DAY TWO – GAME ONE – The top seeds – the ILLINOIS TECH SCARLET HAWKS – faced the 5th seeded NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS in this game. The Scarlet Hawks seized a 1-0 lead in the 1st Inning which became a 3-0 lead in the 3rd. After that the only run scored was by the Builders in the top of the 6th Inning as Illinois Tech won the game 3-1. Kyle Bumpass was the winning Pitcher.
DAY TWO – GAME TWO – This game pitted the 2nd seeded PENN STATE AT GREATER ALLEGHENY NITTANY LIONS against the 3rd seeded TENNESSEE TEMPLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS. Neither team scored in the 1st Inning but the Nittany Lions put up runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 6th Innings while the Crusaders managed just one run in the 5th. PSUGA logged a 4-1 victory for Pitcher Matt Klena.
DAY TWO – GAME THREE – Up next the 4 seeds – the ROCHESTER COLLEGE WARRIORS – took on the 8th seeded PSU- BEAVER LIONS. The Warriors made PSUB go the proverbial “0 and 2 and a barbecue” by defeating them in a 7-0 shutout. Rochester did not score their first runs until the 5th Inning. Justin Green threw for the win.
DAY TWO – GAME FOUR – In this battle on the diamond the 6th seeded COLLEGE OF SAINT JOSEPH’S (sic) FIGHTING SAINTS squared off against the 10 seeds – the PSU-SCHUYKILL LIONS. Happily another Penn State system team got eliminated in this game as the Fighting Saints converted a 2-0 2nd Inning advantage into a TWELVE to NOTHING blowout. Bill Brancatella got the W for CSJ.
DAY TWO – GAME FIVE – In a spectacular upset the 9th seeded SAINT JOSEPH’S COLLEGE- BROOKLYN BEARS toppled the 4th seeded ROCHESTER COLLEGE WARRIORS. The Bears put the Warriors on Upset Alert early on with a 2-0 lead in the 1st Inning. That became a 6-2 advantage in the 4th and ultimately a 6-4 victory. Rosario Dilorenzo was the winning Pitcher.
DAY TWO – GAME SIX – The 6th seeded COLLEGE OF SAINT JOSEPH’S (sic) FIGHTING SAINTS won their second game of the day – this one against the 7 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI AT CLERMONT COUGARS. The Fighting Saints put up runs in the 1st and 5th Innings while the Cougars mustered just 1 in the 6th. CSJ won by a score of 4-1 for Pitcher Ryan Cummings.
