The Frontierado holiday is just a little over 3 months away so here is the first related post for the calendar year. As the Lifetime Commissioner of Frontierado I am empowered to designate an Official Band for that greatest of all holidays! In keeping with my blog’s theme of emphasizing those things which are neglected I’ve named Black Oak Arkansas as the Offical Band of Frontierado. Headed by legendary front man Jim Dandy, whom David Lee Roth always pointed to as a huge influence, this country-rock/ r&b band thoroughly kicked ass. Click here for a quick (3 minute) representation of the group’s sound:

THE MUSLIM MARATHON MASSACRE: ONE YEAR LATER
BREAKING NEWS: Liberals and Conservatives still suck.
Yes it was a year ago that the world got another reminder about the blood-soaked, homophobic and misogynistic savagery called Islam when the Tsarnaev brothers set off explosives at the Boston Marathon and seemed proud of it. As if the attack itself wasn’t repulsive enough the American media made it even worse by once again showing their ugly biases. Remember how they spent a few days implying that since the attack happened on Tax Day it must have been Tea Party members (the favorite bogeymen of the American left) who set off the explosives? When the culprits turned out to be Muslims those same outlets looked even more foolish than they usually do. Yes, whiny Liberals, I know Fox News Channel and talk radio show conservative bias but all the other news outlets show liberal bias that is at least as blatant. Grow up and deal with it already.
As I pointed out last year after the attacks were revealed to be Islamic in nature and not tax-related: Continue reading

FREE SPEECH NOW: BECAUSE PEOPLE WHO NEVER OFFEND ANYONE NEVER SAY OR WRITE ANYTHING WORTH PAYING ATTENTION TO ANYHOW
Free Speech has been under assault by both Liberals and Conservatives in recent decades. There was a time when Liberals actively supported freedom of expression because they understood it was THE primary freedom from which all other freedoms flowed. The early figures from my own country’s history protected speech with the FIRST Amendment to the Constitution because they knew all too well that ideas that are considered taboo and offensive today might be considered essential truths by future generations.
The repulsive 1960s generation of American Liberals were all about Free Speech when THEIR ideas were the ones offending people. Once they considered themselves to be comfortably in the cultural, educational and political driver’s seat by the early 1990s they decided they wanted their own already outdated worldview enshrined in stone and presented as THE one true set of values.
They became the Political Correctness Police and anyone who offended their 1960s attitudes had to be silenced because – as they knew so well from their own experience – when controversial ideas are given the room to breathe they can often thrive. The totalitarian asses of the 1960s can’t bear the fact that younger people might have opinions that offend THEM as much as their opinions offended their parents’ generation.
SPIKED-Online.com is launching a FREE SPEECH NOW campaign in recognition of the fact that, all around the world similar assaults on Freedom of Expression are being made. If Muslims are offended they want the offensive material banned, if authoritarian regimes like the one in China are offended they want the offensive material banned, and on and on it goes. Considering that the more easily offended someone is the less intelligent they tend to be I find it amazing that Politically Correct censorship has thrived the way it has.
SPIKED-Online.com’s opening post in this campaign even quotes Spinoza’s wonderful line “Every man should think what he likes and say what he thinks.” That still rings true because no matter what the hypersensitive fools who want to censor the rest of us find offensive NONE of them has the right to try to extinguish one single product of the human mind.
Here at Balladeer’s Blog I deal with these issues on a daily basis. Just about everything I write offends either left-wing fanatics or right-wing fanatics or religious fanatics. So, in the spirit of freedom of expression no matter whose delicate little sensibilities are offended (including – GASP – African- Americans) I will link to Spiked-Online.com’s post and would certainly encourage anyone else who creates in any way to join me in doing so. Tell the powers that be – no matter what their skin color or their blood-soaked religion – that you will NOT let them dictate to you what ideas and opinions you are free to express. THE BEATLES: THE ROSEMARY ALBUM (DOUBLE-RECORD SET)
Today marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show during their first trip to the United States. My older sister Rosemary is a very zealous Beatles fan and to mark this historic occassion she put together this layout for a fictional two-record set featuring what she feels are the Beatles’ best songs after their breakup. The terminal point was 1981 to include the release of John Lennon’s final album, which however means songs like George Harrison’s Got My Heart Set on You cannot be included.
THE ROSEMARY ALBUM
Side One
IMAGINE (John Lennon)
ALL THINGS MUST PASS (George Harrison)
MY LOVE (Paul McCartney)
PHOTOGRAPH (Ringo Starr)
WHAT IS LIFE (George Harrison)
Side Two Continue reading

THE MOST CONTROVERSIAL INDEPENDENT MOVIES OF 2013
With the calendar year 2013 firmly in the books Balladeer’s Blog takes this opportunity to examine the six most controversial indy flicks from the preceding twelve months.
THE BURQA – This movie far and away deserves the top spot. The Burqa boasts the most explosive premise of any of the films on this list and plays like a combination of Robert Rodriguez’s El Mariachi trilogy, Spaghetti Westerns and post-apocalypse actioners like The Road Warrior. The main character is a mysterious gun-wielding Muslim woman who calls herself the Burqa for the garment that Muslim fundamentalists insist women wear. The cloaked heroine travels battle-scarred Iraq blowing away Islamists who oppress women physically or intellectually. TO THE FOURTH POWER – A mock documentary that deals with the way in which the Democratic and Republican Parties have become little more than rival gangs of white collar criminals whose elected officals represent their party’s interests and not the interests of the people who elected them. The mockumentary starts with fictional depictions of Continue reading
