COLLEGE BASEBALL: MORE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT RESULTS

SOUTHERN STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

brewtonparkerDAY TWO, GAME ONE: The 8 seeds – the BREWTON-PARKER COLLEGE BARONS – played an elimination game against the 5th seeded BLUE MOUNTAIN COLLEGE TOPPERS. After 2 Scoreless Innings the teams were knotted up at 1-1 in the 3rd.

A 2-2 tie in the 6th Inning became a 3-2 Barons edge in the 7th before the Toppers wound up leading 6-4 in the 8th. In the 9th Brewton-Parker College forced extra Innings with a 6-6 deadlock. Neither team scored in the 10th Inning but the Barons won it 8-6 in the 11th for Pitcher Jacob Johnson. Continue reading

MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL POSTSEASON ACTION

AMERICAN MIDWEST CONFERENCE

Belleville LynxDAY TWO, GAME ONE: The 6 seeds – the LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY AT BELLEVILLE LYNX – played an elimination game against the 7th seeded HARRIS-STOWE STATE HORNETS. The Hornets grabbed a 1-0 edge in the 1st Inning, which stood until the Lynx tied the game at 1-1 in the 3rd.

From there LU-Belleville shut out Harris-Stowe State while adding 2 runs each in the 5th and 6th Innings. The Lynx won the game 5-1 for Pitcher Dylan Chisholm, who was on the Mound for 9 Iron Man Innings. Continue reading

APPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

GOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

Hope International University RoyalsDAY ONE, GAME ONE: The 3 seeds – the HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS – started things off against the 2nd seeded ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM. The Firestorm seized a quick 4-0 lead in the 1st Inning but the Royals made it a 4-2 game in the 2nd.

Arizona Christian University extended their lead to 5-2 in the 3rd Inning following which neither team scored in the 4th. Hope International U put up 5 more runs in the 5th Inning for a 7-5 advantage. The Royals notched 1 more run in the 9th to end the scoring, winning the game 8-5. Pitcher Henry Martinez got the W. NAIA COLLEGE WORLD SERIES CHAMPS CROWNED

southeastern univ fireCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE and the FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY LIONS were the last two teams standing in the 2018 College World Series in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics).

The Lions managed a quick 1-0 edge in the 1st Inning and that lead held up until the 4th when the Fire smacked in FIVE runs. The 6th Inning ended with Freed-Hardeman University pulling to within 5-3. Continue reading

COLLEGE BASEBALL: MORE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT CHAMPS

point universityAPPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – It took SIXTEEN Innings for a winner to be determined in the clash between the two teams still standing in the AAC. Those two teams were the 4 seeds – the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS – and the 2nd seeded TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS.

After a scoreless 1st Inning the Bulldogs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 2nd, which remained unchanged until the Skyhawks went on top 4-2 in the 5th. Tennessee Wesleyan hits in the 7th and 8th Innings knotted things up at 4-4 and, as I stated at the top, that deadlock lingered until the 16th Inning, when Point University won it 6-5. COLLEGE BASEBALL POSTSEASON TOURNAMENTS CONTINUE

William Woods OwlsAMERICAN MIDWEST CONFERENCE – The 5th seeded WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS faced the 4 seeds – the COLUMBIA (MO) COLLEGE COUGARS. After 3 scoreless Innings the Owls went up 2, 3 and 4-0 in the 4th, 5th and 6th Innings, respectively. From there they added one more run for a 5-0 shutout.

The rest of the day in this Conference Tournament was all chalk: the top seeds – the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS, defeated the 8th seeded CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS 5-2 … The (2) FREED HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY LIONS mauled the (7) LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY AT BELLEVILLE LYNX by a score of ELEVEN to ONE … And the (3) MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS survived a tight 4-3 clash with the (6) HARRIS-STOWE STATE HORNETS.
