COLLEGE BASEBALL POSTSEASON TOURNAMENTS CONTINUE

AMERICAN MIDWEST CONFERENCE – The 5th seeded WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS faced the 4 seeds – the COLUMBIA (MO) COLLEGE COUGARS. After 3 scoreless Innings the Owls went up 2, 3 and 4-0 in the 4th, 5th and 6th Innings, respectively. From there they added one more run for a 5-0 shutout.

The rest of the day in this Conference Tournament was all chalk: the top seeds – the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS, defeated the 8th seeded CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS 5-2 … The (2) FREED HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY LIONS mauled the (7) LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY AT BELLEVILLE LYNX by a score of ELEVEN to ONE … And the (3) MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS survived a tight 4-3 clash with the (6) HARRIS-STOWE STATE HORNETS.

APPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The only close game in this Tournament’s opening round was the one pitting the 4 seeds – the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS – against the 5th seeded TRUETT MCCONNELL UNIVERSITY BEARS. This Pitcher’s Duel remained scoreless until the 8th Inning, when the Skyhawks mustered the lone run of the game, resulting in a 1-0 win.

Meanwhile the top seeded BRYAN COLLEGE LIONS took down the (8) UNION COLLEGE BULLDOGS 11-6 … The (3) REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (Should be the Rottweilers) slapped down the (6) MILLIGAN COLLEGE BUFFALOES in a 7-0 rout … And the (2) TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS decimated the (7) MONTREAT COLLEGE CAVALIERS to the tune of 10-0.

SOUTHERN STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The (4) WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS met the (5) BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS. The Crusaders seized a 1-0 edge in the 1st Inning and the Wildcats made it a 1-1 tie in the 3rd. From there William Carey University went up 2-1 in the 6th with Bethel countering for a 2-2 score in the 7th. A 9th Inning run from the Crusaders gave them a 3-2 triumph.

The (2) UNIVERSITY OF MOBILE RAMS defeated the feisty (7) MARTIN METHODIST COLLEGE RED HAWKS by a closer than expected 8-5 result … The top seeded FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (Should be the Furies) routed the (8) LOYOLA (LA) WOLF PACK 14-6 … And the (3) MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE KNIGHTS clobbered the (6) BLUE MOUNTAIN COLLEGE TOPPERS in an 18-6 laugher.  

GOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this Conference were the top seeded WILLIAM JESSUP UNIVERSITY WARRIORS and the 4 seeds – the HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS.

The Warriors grabbed a quick 2-0 1st Inning lead but the Royals went on top 5-2 in the 2nd. William Jessup University responded by taking a 6-5 edge in the 3rd Inning with the 6th seeing Hope International U tying things up at 6-6. The 6th Inning ended with Jessup holding an 8-7 edge.
