APPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – It took SIXTEEN Innings for a winner to be determined in the clash between the two teams still standing in the AAC. Those two teams were the 4 seeds – the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS – and the 2nd seeded TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS.
After a scoreless 1st Inning the Bulldogs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 2nd, which remained unchanged until the Skyhawks went on top 4-2 in the 5th. Tennessee Wesleyan hits in the 7th and 8th Innings knotted things up at 4-4 and, as I stated at the top, that deadlock lingered until the 16th Inning, when Point University won it 6-5. Pitcher Garrett Brown logged the W. * THE SKYHAWKS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE AAC TOURNAMENT *
RIVER STATES CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top two seeds were left competing for the RSC title. The 2nd seeded POINT PARK UNIVERSITY PIONEERS did battle with the top seeds – the storied INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTHEAST GRENADIERS.
The Pioneers’ bats were on fire from the start as Point Park U seized a 4-0 advantage in the 1st Inning. That became 6-2 in the 2nd, followed by PPU adding 1 run each in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th Innings. The Grenadiers mustered just 3 more runs the rest of the way, resulting in a 10-5 Point Park triumph. Christian Negron pitched for the win. * THE PIONEERS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE RSC TOURNAMENT *
