Martin Methodist Redhawks BESTNUMBER THREE TAKES A FALL – The MARTIN METHODIST COLLEGE REDHAWKS paid a visit to the number 3 team in the nation – the DALTON STATE ROADRUNNERS. The RedHawks were on top 32-26 come Halftime, then held on by their fingertips for a thrilling 71-70 Upset triumph. Tomonique Marion led Martin Methodist College with 21 points.

menlo college oaks logoOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The MENLO COLLEGE OAKS welcomed the 21st ranked WILLIAM JESSUP UNIVERSITY WARRIORS on Saturday and took them down 91-83    ###    And the THOMAS MORE COLLEGE SAINTS toppled the visiting number 13 UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS by a final score of 85-71.

Midamerica Christian University Evangels BESTNUMBERS TWO AND THREE SURVIVE SCARES – The (2) MID-AMERICA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EVANGELS snuck past the visiting WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be the Flying W’s) by a score of 83-81    ###    And the (3) DALTON STATE ROADRUNNERS needed Overtime to defeat their hosts the BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS in a 107-101 shootout.

Tougaloo College BulldogsUPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The (18) TOUGALOO COLLEGE BULLDOGS took the court against the visiting (13) XAVIER UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA GOLD RUSH. The Bulldogs had managed a 36-32 advantage by Halftime, then held tight to topple the Gold Rush 64-63   ###   And the LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS won 80-75 at the (22) SHAWNEE STATE BEARS.

Arizona Christian University Firestorm BIGNUMBER SEVEN TAKES A FALL – The 23rd ranked ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM took it on the road against the number 7 team in the nation – THE MASTER’S UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The Firestorm made the Mustangs faithful nervous with a 54-47 Halftime lead, then consummated the Upset, winning the game 93-84. Tim Soares led ACU with a Double-Double of 23 points and 12 rebounds.

LCSC Logo - Primary Full… AND NUMBER EIGHT COMES TUMBLING AFTER – The number 12 LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS visited the 8th ranked PROVIDENCE (MT) ARGONAUTS yesterday. The Warriors (should be the Explorers) laid down the law in the 1st Half, leading 53-25 by the break. From there Lewis-Clark State authored a 96-65 beatdown led by 25 points from Trystan Bradley. Jake Albright logged a Double-Double of 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Benedictine College Ravens logoDOWN GOES NUMBER THREE – The BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS welcomed the number 3 team in the nation – the WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN. The Ravens built up a formidable 40-28 lead over the Statesmen by Halftime, then followed through with a 97-91 Upset. Matt Austin led Benedictine College with 27 points.

vanguard lions newOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS traveled to face the 18th ranked HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS and defeated them in a 62-61 Instant Classic    ###    And the CENTRAL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE OF KANSAS TIGERS notched a 78-75 Upset of the home-standing (19) TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS.

dalton state roadrunnersWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The number 6 team in the nation – the DALTON STATE ROADRUNNERS – traveled to take on the 24th ranked WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS. The Roadrunners were trailing the Crusaders 32-28 at Halftime but after the break they outscored their opponents 47-35 for a 75-67 comeback victory. Rand Bell led Dalton State with THIRTY-ONE points.

Harris Stowe State NEWCENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 points or more in Regulation: The HARRIS-STOWE STATE HORNETS defeated their hosts the FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY LIONS in a 101-96 shootout   ###   Meanwhile the (1) GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS hammered the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX 116-74   ###   And the BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS downed the BREWTON-PARKER COLLEGE BARONS 101-82. The Oaks put the Mustangs on Upset Alert by Halftime with a 45-37 lead, then consummated the Upset by a final score of 87-76. Ross Williams led Menlo College with 20 points.

lindsey wilson blue raidersOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The (19) LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS struck down the visiting (4) UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS 80-69   ###   The HUSTON-TILLOTSON RAMS won 84-67 against the (6) LSU-SHREVEPORT PILOTS   ###   Meanwhile the UNIVERSITY OF MOBILE RAMS toppled the (8) LOYOLA (LA) WOLFPACK 84-82   ###   And the ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS totaled the (13) LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS 87-57.

Hope International University RoyalsCENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 points or more in Regulation: Just one this time around – the (15) HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS played host to the WESTCLIFF UNIVERSITY WARRIORS. Texas Wesleyan RamsDOWN GOES NUMBER NINE – The 22nd ranked TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS welcomed the number 9 team in the nation – the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (Should be the Flying Ws). The key words were “Upset Massacre” as the Rams led the Pioneers 40-22 at Halftime, then obliterated them by a final tally of NINETY-SEVEN to FIFTY! Peyton Sallee led Texas Wesleyan with 26 points.

Lyon College ScotsOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The LYON COLLEGE SCOTS, often called the team of all Americans of Scottish descent, toppled the visiting 18th ranked CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS in a 65-61 Instant Classic   ###   And the LIFE UNIVERSITY (GA) RUNNING EAGLES notched a 72-57 Road Upset of the number 19 LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS.

EUTECTICSCOMMUNITY NIGHT CHAOS – The SAINT LOUIS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY EUTECTICS took it on the road against the HANNIBAL-LAGRANGE UNIVERSITY TROJANS on their Community Night event. The Eutectics were chasing the Trojans 34-26 at the Half before outscoring their hosts 50-33 from there for a 76-67 triumph. Jordan Anderson led the victors with 19 points.  Continue reading

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: NCAA D2 CHAMPIONS CROWNED

nwmo1CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS were trying to win the title AND remain undefeated for the entire Season as they clashed with the 6 seeds – the POINT LOMA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY SEA LIONS.

The Bearcats lived up to their label of “team of destiny” for 2019 and by Halftime were on top of the Sea Lions 33-29. Continue reading

FINAL FOUR RESULTS IN NCAA DIVISION TWO

point loma nazareneFIRST SEMIFINAL – The 6 seeds – the POINT LOMA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY SEA LIONS – took the court against the 7th seeded UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN INDIANA SCREAMING EAGLES. This battle royal had a Halftime score of 31-30 with the Sea Lions on top. From there Point Loma Nazarene University outscored their opponents 50-41 for an 81-71 victory. NCAA D2 FINAL FOUR SET

NCAA DIVISION TWO

The remaining teams were re-seeded 1-8. 

point loma nazareneFINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – The 6 seeds – the POINT LOMA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY SEA LIONS – took on the 3rd seeded QUEENS UNIVERSITY OF CHARLOTTE ROYALS. The Upset-minded Sea Lions were on top of the Royals by a healthy 40-29 at the Half, then squeezed out a little more separation after the break. The final score was Point Loma Nazarene University 87  Queens University of Charlotte 74. Preston Beverly and Daulton Hommes led the Sea Lions with 22 points each.

Southern Indiana University Screaming EaglesFINAL FOUR: SECOND BERTH – In this game the 7th seeded UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN INDIANA SCREAMING EAGLES did battle with the 2 seeds – the WEST TEXAS A&M BUFFALOES. Another Upset was in the offing here as a 46-34 Halftime lead for the Screaming Eagles ultimately became a 94-84 victory.
