UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The (18) TOUGALOO COLLEGE BULLDOGS took the court against the visiting (13) XAVIER UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA GOLD RUSH. The Bulldogs had managed a 36-32 advantage by Halftime, then held tight to topple the Gold Rush 64-63 ### And the LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS won 80-75 at the (22) SHAWNEE STATE BEARS.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 points or more in Regulation: The BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS clobbered their guests the MOUNT MERCY UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS 101-65 ### And the (19) CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS utterly eviscerated the visiting CROWLEY’S RIDGE COLLEGE PIONEERS 108-58.
COACHES VS CANCER – The PARK UNIVERSITY PIRATES traveled to face the SAINT LOUIS COLLEGE OF PHARMACY EUTECTICS for this Coaches vs Cancer game. The Pirates plundered a 44-32 lead by the Half, then kept the Eutectics at arm’s length for an 84-73 victory. Cory Reeves led Park U with 27 points while Ernest Myles III logged a Double-Double of 21 points and 10 rebounds.
DEFENSIVE EPIC – Stellar defense was the story of this clash between the WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS and the visiting LYON COLLEGE SCOTS. The Owls were on top 31-23 by the break. From there they had to hold on against a Scots rally to win the game 55-50. Cole Anderson tossed in 16 points to lead William Woods University.
NAIA DIVISION TWO
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER NINE – The 23rd ranked GRACE COLLEGE LANCERS played host to the number 9 team in the nation – the BETHEL (IN) PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots). The Lancers put the Pilots on Upset Alert by Halftime with a 52-38 advantage, then kept up the pressure for a Century Club-sized 102-92 triumph. Haden Deaton put up 21 points to lead Grace College.
OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The only other Upset in the NAIA2 rankings yesterday came in the game between the HUNTINGTON UNIVERSITY FORESTERS and their hosts the (20) MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY COUGARS. The Foresters clung to a 34-33 edge at the Half, then got a bit of breathing room from there for a 71-68 victory. Caleb Middlesworth’s THIRTY-ONE points led HU.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 points or more in Regulation: The INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTHEAST GRENADIERS notched a 105-93 road win at the ASBURY UNIVERSITY EAGLES ### And the ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES (should be the Wind Eagles) defeated the visiting EAST-WEST UNIVERSITY PHANTOMS by a score of 102-91.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS survived a 113-110 DOUBLE OVERTIME affair at the YORK (NE) COLLEGE PANTHERS ### And the COLLEGE OF COASTAL GEORGIA MARINERS defeated the visiting JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY WILDCATS by a final score of 96-88 in an extra session.
THIS GAME WAS FOR THE BIRDS – The VITERBO UNIVERSITY V-HAWKS took it on the road against the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS yesterday. The V-Hawks were chasing the Blue Hawks 29-27 at the end of a defense-heavy 1st Half. After the break Viterbo University roared back for a 60-57 triumph. Fifteen points from Jack Monis led the V-Hawks.
