WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The number 6 team in the nation – the DALTON STATE ROADRUNNERS – traveled to take on the 24th ranked WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS. The Roadrunners were trailing the Crusaders 32-28 at Halftime but after the break they outscored their opponents 47-35 for a 75-67 comeback victory. Rand Bell led Dalton State with THIRTY-ONE points.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 points or more in Regulation: The HARRIS-STOWE STATE HORNETS defeated their hosts the FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY LIONS in a 101-96 shootout ### Meanwhile the (1) GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS hammered the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX 116-74 ### And the BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS downed the BREWTON-PARKER COLLEGE BARONS 101-82.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The LIFE PACIFIC UNIVERSITY WARRIORS took it on the road against the OTTAWA (AZ) UNIVERSITY SPIRIT and notched a 100-96 Overtime victory ### And the (10) JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES (should be the Abolitionists) needed an extra session to beat the visiting OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS 92-86.
STUDENT APPRECIATION GAME – The BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS marked Student Appreciation Day with a game against the MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS. The students in attendance got to appreciate a 40-32 Ravens lead at the Half and then an authoritative 84-65 triumph. Jayden Temme tossed in 19 points to lead Benedictine while Tyson Cathy logged a Double-Double of 13 points and 11 rebounds.
DEFENSIVE EPICS – Stellar defense was the name of the game in these two clashes: The MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE KNIGHTS won 55-53 at the UNIVERSITY OF MOBILE RAMS ### And the HANNIBAL-LAGRANGE UNIVERSITY TROJANS emerged triumphant in a 57-55 Instant Classic against the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS.

ONE-POINT WONDERS – The (13) LOURDES UNIVERSITY GRAY WOLVES edged the visiting INDIANA TECH WARRIORS (should be the Hoplites) by a final score of 73-72 ### And the BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES snuck by the home-standing WEST VIRGINIA TECH GOLDEN BEARS in a 95-94 game for the ages.
OT DRAMA – The ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES (should be the Wind Eagles) welcomed the TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS yesterday. The Eagles watched a 45-37 Halftime advantage turn into a 76-76 tie to end Regulation. In Overtime Robert Morris University went on to win the game 91-85.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 points or more in Regulation: The INDIANA UNIVERSITY EAST RED WOLVES smacked down the visiting CARLOW UNIVERSITY CELTICS 116-61 ### Meanwhile the (11) BETHEL (IN) PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots) won 101-70 at the GOSHEN COLLEGE MAPLE LEAFS ### And the SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS hammered the TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS to the tune of 105-77.
A.I.I. CLASSIC – The COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS BOBCATS clashed with the HOLY FAMILY COLLEGE LAKERS (should be the Pheasants). The Bobcats dominated the Lakers and were like the proverbial cat that swallowed the
canary pheasant. In the end the College of the Ozarks triumphed over Holy Family College by a final tally of 93-63.
HOMESTANDS – The OHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS won a 72-68 Instant Classic against the visiting POINT PARK UNIVERSITY PIONEERS ### And the MILLIGAN COLLEGE BUFFALOES likewise won a nail-biter over their guests the COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY RAMS by a score of 74-70.
My sister-in-law is the sister of the former Dalton State coach Tony Ingle. He’s a legend to say the least.
