COLLEGE BASKETBALL POSTSEASON ACTION CONTINUES

*** ACCA ***

Arlington Baptist PatriotsFIRST SEMIFINAL – The first semifinal in the National Championship Tournament of the ACCA (Association of Christian College Athletics) was played between the Defending Champions – the ARLINGTON BAPTIST COLLEGE PATRIOTS – and the HILLSDALE FREE WILL BAPTIST COLLEGE SAINTS. The Patriots could just smell a return to the title game and had compiled a 45-31 lead by the Halftime buzzer. In the 2nd Half every run by the trailing Saints was answered by another run by Arlington Baptist College. The Patriots thus kept Hillsdale at arm’s-length the rest of the way and ultimately won by a final score of 95-77. Up next Arlington Baptist tries to make it back-to-back national titles in the ACCA!

Faith Baptist Bible College Eagles logoSECOND SEMIFINAL – The battle for the other slot in the title game pitted the FAITH BAPTIST BIBLE COLLEGE EAGLES against the heavily favored DALLAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CRUSADERS. The Eagles faced a very early 10-7 deficit but a 17-2 run put them out in front of the Crusaders. After that the lead went back and forth with Dallas Christian College clinging to a tight 42-40 lead at Halftime. After the break the lead was exchanged several more times before Faith Baptist got a bit of separation, then made clutch free-throws late to preserve a 92-85 upset win. Josh Bray led the Eagles with 28 points while teammates Jon Luke Talton, Ryan Kupferschmid and Aaron Leistikow notched Double Doubles. Continue reading
