Siena Heights SaintsSIENA HEIGHTS RULES THE WORLD – Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog are aware that at LEAST one NAIA football team upsets a team from higher divisions every single week of the season. Yesterday the SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS took it on the road against NCAA Division TWO’s SAINT JOSEPH’S COLLEGE PUMAS. The Saints schooled yet another NCAA team on how well they play football in the NAIA by defeating them in a 35-31 Instant Classic. SHU trailed 17-14 at the half, then led 21-17 for a time before repeated lead changes set in. 

Lindsey_Wilson_KYLINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE ALSO RULES THE WORLD – The NAIA’s (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS also upset an NCAA Division TWO team yesterday. The Blue Raiders were on the road against D2’s KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE PANTHERS. Lindsey Wilson improved to 3-0 on the season with an authoritative 39-20 victory.   

North Greenville CrusadersNORTH GREENVILLE WANTS IN ON SOME OF THIS ACTION, TOO – NCAA Division 2’s NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS did some world-ruling of their own yesterday. They had traveled to face NCAA Division ONE’s Virginia Military Institute Keydets (yes, Keydets) and in a very impressive display of gridiron oomph they upset VMI by a final score of 37-24.

This Lone Star Conference versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference clash was a thrilling back and forth affair but when all was said and done the Buffaloes came out on top by a final score of 34-31.

Balladeer’s Blog continues its examination of this neglected cult show from the 1980’s. Randy Clower, Richard Malmos, Ken “Tex” Miller and Joe “The Hypnotic Eye” Riley played machine-gun toting members of the fictional Film Vault Corps (“the few, the proud, the sarcastic”) who would show and mock bad and campy movies preceded by episodes of old Republic serials. They would also have comedic sci-fi adventures before and after commercial breaks.

ORIGINALLY BROADCAST: Saturday September 7th, 1985 from 10:30pm to 1:00am.

SERIAL: Before the movie our Film Vault Technicians First Class showed and mocked a chapter of Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe (1940).

For a non-believer and Independent Voter like me this is the ideal day to point out that there is no god named Allah and Muhammad was a false prophet. Islam is at LEAST as blood-soaked as any other religion and it is definitely the most homophobic and misogynistic religion in the world at this particular point in history.

Here is Balladeer’s Blog’s September 11th Anniversary post, in which I examine the way Liberal fanatics and Conservative fanatics would have dealt with events IF the 9-11 attacks had been thwarted.

Several years ago a big deal was made over whether or not the 9-11 attacks could have been prevented by greater coordination between elements of the intelligence community. Amid the predictable partisan bickering and childish finger- pointing that characterized the 9-11 Commision and its findings an important consideration was overlooked.

HIGH SCHOOL CAESAR (1960) – John Ashley, who was about as menacing as Ned Flanders, plays a bitter rich teenage punk who runs illegal operations at his high school like a junior version of organized crime. The title is a reference to Little Caesar, the gangster movie with Edward G Robinson. Ashley’s JD character peddles the answers to exams, rigs school elections and bilks money from his classmates. All of this is played so seriously you will die laughing. There’s also the obligatory Drag Race and OF COURSE someone dies while drag racing. SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROCK! (1956) – In this hilarious movie Rock and Roll music is blamed for the Juvenile Delinquency epidemic of the 1950’s. Not only does one particularly irrational city ban rock music completely but it puts the local rock DJ on trial! Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog know I’m a non-believer in all of the world’s religions. Most religious practitioners are able to deal with that though some show varying degrees of anger. There is only ONE religion here in the 21st Century that retains the superstitious savagery of the past and that is Islam. I could literally fill this blog every single day with nothing but article after article about Muslim atrocities but the horror of it all would be overwhelming.

At any rate this is the time of year to focus on the fact that there is no god named Allah and Muhammad was a false prophet. It’s also a good time of year to focus on FAQ’s about the most homophobic and misogynistic religion in the world at this particular point in history.
