Democrat states are trying to eliminate the electoral college altogether. When enough states sign on to the National Popular Vote Compact (270 electoral votes), it will go into effect, and the electoral college will be history.

Oh, I agree, but in this case I think it’s ironic that if this had been in effect in 2024 then Virginia’s electoral votes would have been automatically assigned to Trump and I’m sure that’s NOT what Democrats would want. I also believe that the population of Northern Virginia – which is massively a Democrat region – has reached the point where Virginia will go to Democrat presidential candidates anyway, so they would get the state’s electoral votes unless this passes and a Republican candidate wins the national popular vote.
