BALLADEER’S BLOG: USCAA COLLEGE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS IN BOTH DIVISIONS

newport news apprentice school buildersDIVISION ONE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this division’s tournament were the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) and the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS.

By Halftime the Builders were clinging to a tight 33-30 lead over their opponents. After the break the Apprentice School eked out just a bit more separation from the Scots to win the game by a final score of 73-68. Donovan Means led the Builders to the title with 19 points.  Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG: COLLEGE BASKETBALL SEMIFINALS IN THE USCAA AND MORE

USCAA DIVISION ONE

lyon college scotsSEMIFINAL ONE – The 3 seeds – the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS – faced the 2nd ranked BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT BUFFALO BOBCATS.

The Bobcats held a 41-35 Halftime lead over their opponents. After the break the Scots mounted a comeback, outscoring BSC-Buffalo 42-29 to win the game 77-70. THIRTY-FOUR points from Mark Toney led Lyon College in scoring, while his teammate Nikola SaSaroga notched a Double Double of 19 points and 13 rebounds.  Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG: USCAA COLLEGE BASKETBALL NATIONAL TOURNAMENT RESULTS

USCAA DIVISION ONE

newport news apprentice school buildersDAY ONE: GAME ONE – The top seeds – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) – faced the 8th seeded UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT FORT KENT BENGALS.

The Builders played suffocating defense against their opponents in the opening Half, leading them 45-28 at the break. From there, both NNAS and the Bengals added another 51 points to their respective tallies as the Builders won 96-79. Adrion Wall’s 26 points led NNAS.

lyon college scotsDAY ONE: GAME TWO – In this game the 3rd seeded LYON COLLEGE SCOTS took on the 6 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT SYRACUSE BOBCATS.

The Scots were on top by a comfortable score of 51-23 by Halftime. After the break Lyon College kept the Bobcats at arm’s length the rest of the way to their 86-57 triumph. Twenty points from Frank Toney led the Scots. Continue reading

newport news apprentice school buildersUSCAA OVER NCAA – The number 1 team in the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (shipbuilders) – traveled to take on NCAA Division Two’s CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY WOLVES. By Halftime the Builders were on top 39-28. After the break they floored it, trouncing the Wolves by a final score of 98-56. Adrion Wall’s 20 points led the Apprentice School.

stanton fighting elksCENTURY CLUB – The STANTON UNIVERSITY FIGHTING ELKS topped fellow newbies the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LEADERSHIP UNIVERSITY RHINOS by a count of 103-60   ###   Meanwhile, the (4) BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT SYRACUSE BOBCATS triumphed 102-62 over the PAUL SMITH’S COLLEGE BOBCATS   ###   And the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT ROCHESTER BOBCATS defeated the visiting MOHAWK VALLEY COLLEGE HAWKS 105-90. BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL RESULTS FROM JANUARY THIRTEENTH

newport news apprentice school buildersNUMBER ONE ROLLS – The nation’s top-ranked NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) took on the CENTRAL INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE CARDINALS. By Halftime the Builders were on top 55-30 and lost no momentum after the break.

The Apprentice School blew out the Cardinals by a Century Club score of 118-70. Adrion Wall’s 28 points led the Builders.

Berkeley (NJ) KnightsDOWN GOES NUMBER TWO – The BERKELEY (NY) COLLEGE KNIGHTS played host to the number 2 team in the nation – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT BUFFALO BOBCATS. The storied Knights held a 33-26 advantage at the Half.

From there the Bobcats outscored Berkeley College 60-56, but still fell short as the Knights triumphed 89-86. Karanja Bright notched 21 points to lead B.C.  Continue reading

NCCAA DIVISION TWO

Kansas Christian College FalconsCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Fighting it out for the D2 crown in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) were the KANSAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE FALCONS and the MANHATTAN CHRISTIAN COLLEGE THUNDER.

The Falcons took control early and led the Thunder 45-24 by Halftime, following which they maintained their pressure all the way to a 98-73 triumph. Boog Lewis led KCC with 28 points, while teammate Jamal Clark notched a Double Double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. * THE FALCONS ARE NCCAA DIVISION TWO CHAMPIONS * Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S LATEST COLLEGE BASKETBALL RESULTS IN THE USCAA

USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association)

bluefield state logoONE HUNDRED FORTY-FIVE – Both teams made the Century Club in this game between the BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES and their guests the JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY (NC) WILDCATS. Defense was not an option, apparently, as the Big Blues led by the unbelievable score of 82-46 at Halftime before going on to win the game 145-106. Malik Lacewell led Bluefield State with 25 points, Malik Tidwell logged 20 points and Khamaury McMillan registered a Double-Double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. 

macu mustangsINSTANT CLASSIC – The MIDATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS took the court against the VIRGINIA PENINSULA COLLEGE GATORS. At the Half the Mustangs were clinging to a tight 32-30 edge. After the break MACU kept the Gators at arm’s length the rest of the way enroute to a 70-68 victory. NAIA, USCAA AND NCCAA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS CONTINUE

USCAA DIVISION TWO

southern maine college seawolvesNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 5 seeds – the SOUTHERN MAINE COLLEGE SEAWOLVES – and the 7th seeded JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY AT CHARLOTTE WILDCATS played for the title in Division Two of the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association).

The Seawolves were on top 36-28 at Halftime, but then had to hold on tight against a furious Wildcats rally after the break. In the end Southern Maine College won out in this 79-75 thriller. Zachary Mickle led the Seawolves with 20 points while two of his teammates notched Double-Doubles – Ian Regan with 15 points & 10 rebounds, and Anderson Kavutse with 12 points & 10 rebounds. * THE SEAWOLVES ARE CHAMPIONS OF USCAA DIVISION TWO * Continue reading

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: NAIA, NCCAA AND USCAA TOURNAMENT RESULTS

NCCAA DIVISION TWO

crown college purple stormFINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – The 4 seeds – the CROWN COLLEGE PURPLE STORM – went up against the 5th seeded ARLINGTON BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PATRIOTS.

At Halftime the Purple Storm were out in front by a score of 38-31. From there Crown College got more and more distance from ABU, ultimately winning the game 82-63. Cade Carroll led the Purple Storm in scoring with his 23 points. 

great lakes christian college crusadersFINAL FOUR: SECOND BERTH – Up next the top seeded GREAT LAKES CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CRUSADERS played the 8 seeds – the EMMAUS BIBLE COLLEGE EAGLES.

The Crusaders dominated this game from start to finish. By the midpoint Great Lakes Christian College held a 42-27 advantage before going on to beat the Eagles by a blowout score of NINETY to SIXTY-THREE. Thirteen points from Whitney Harris of the Crusaders led this team effort.  Continue reading

DAY TWO RESULTS FROM THE USCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

The latest results from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) –

USCAA DIVISION ONE

paul quinn college tigersFIRST SEMIFINAL – The top seeded PAUL QUINN COLLEGE TIGERS (should be the Purple Tigers) took the court against the 4 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT ALBANY BOBCATS.

This catfight saw the Tigers smother the Bobcats on both sides of the ball, leading them 42-23 by Halftime. After the break Paul Quinn College maintained its distance from BSC-Albany the rest of way, going on to win the game 80-59. Spencer McElway and Brandon Johnson led the Tigers with 14 points each.  Continue reading
