USCAA DIVISION TWO
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Fighting it out for the D2 crown in the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) were the KANSAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE FALCONS and the MANHATTAN CHRISTIAN COLLEGE THUNDER.
The Falcons took control early and led the Thunder 45-24 by Halftime, following which they maintained their pressure all the way to a 98-73 triumph. Boog Lewis led KCC with 28 points, while teammate Jamal Clark notched a Double Double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. * THE FALCONS ARE USCAA DIVISION TWO CHAMPIONS *
THIRD PLACE GAME – This game pitted the CROWN COLLEGE POLARS against the GREAT LAKES CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CRUSADERS.
The Polars dominated on both sides of the ball and at the Half were on top 49-27. After the break, Crown College got even more separation from the Crusaders, ultimately winning the game by a final score of 92-63. Leo Lin tossed in 21 points to lead the Polars to victory.
FIFTH PLACE GAME – Wrapping up things for the USCAA D2 yesterday was a clash between the OZARK CHRISTIAN COLLEGE AMBASSADORS and the TOCCOA FALLS COLLEGE EAGLES.
The Ambassadors were a well-oiled machine, leading at the midpoint by a tally of 47-34. From there, Ozark Christian College took their offense to the next level, scoring 50 more points to defeat the Eagles 97-77. Tyler Alarid’s 26 points led the Ambassadors, with his teammate Danny Foster registering a Double Double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.
NCAA DIVISION THREE
FINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – The SWARTHMORE COLLEGE GARNET took the court against the NICHOLS COLLEGE BISON on Saturday.
The Bison were out in front of the Garnet 44-37 come Halftime, but Swarthmore College came out of the locker room primed for a comeback. The Garnet roared from behind for a thrilling 78-77 victory. Twenty-three points from George Visconti led Swarthmore in this trip to the Final Four.
FINAL FOUR: SECOND BERTH – Up next the CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS battled the WHEATON (IL) COLLEGE THUNDER.
The Captains seemed to be comfortably in charge by the Half with their 40-25 advantage. However, they had to hold on from there against a Thunder rally to win the game by a final count of 76-70. Matthew Brody put up 19 points to lead Christopher Newport University in scoring.
FINAL FOUR: THIRD BERTH – This game pitted the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS against the OSWEGO STATE LAKERS.
At the midpoint the Lakers were on top by a score of 34-30, but after the break the Warhawks came from behind to win a 77-74 Instant Classic. Miles Barnstable’s 23 points led UW-Whitewater, while his teammates Carter Capstran and Delvin Barnstable logged Double Doubles – Capstran with 21 points & 15 rebounds, Barnstable with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
FINAL FOUR: LAST BERTH – The UNIVERSITY OF MOUNT UNION PURPLE RAIDERS played the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT OSHKOSH TITANS.
The Purple Raiders were out in front of the Titans 35-26 at Halftime and pretty much kept UW-Oshkosh at arm’s length from there. When the dust settled, UMU had won the game by a final score of 78-67. The Purple Raiders were led by Christian Parker, who contributed a Double Double of 26 points and 11 rebounds.
NJCAA DIVISION ONE DISTRICT CHAMPS
ATLANTIC DISTRICT – The last two teams standing in this District were the CAPE FEAR COLLEGE SEA DEVILS and the BRUNSWICK COLLEGE DOLPHINS. At the Half the Sea Devils held a comfortable 48-33 advantage. After the break, Cape Fear left the Dolphins further and further behind, ultimately notching an 85-65 smackdown of their opponents. The Sea Devils and Dolphins have yet to update their players’ stats from this game yesterday, so I can’t offer specifics on the high scorer. * THE SEA DEVILS ARE ATLANTIC DISTRICT CHAMPIONS *
MIDWEST DISTRICT – In this game the MOBERLY AREA COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS played the HIGHLAND (IL) COLLEGE COUGARS. The Greyhounds played suffocating defense the entire time, leading the Cougars by a count of 32-20 at the midpoint, then going on to defeat Highland 66-52. Jaheim Tanksley led Moberly in scoring with 20 points, and his teammate Tre’von Spiller got a Double Double of 12 points and 13 rebounds. * THE GREYHOUNDS ARE MIDWEST DISTRICT CHAMPIONS *
NORTH CENTRAL DISTRICT – An Instant Classic was in store here as the SOUTHEASTERN (IA) COLLEGE BLACKHAWKS did battle with the NORTH DAKOTA STATE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE WILDCATS. The Blackhawks saw their 37-28 Halftime lead disappear as the Wildcats forced Overtime with a 64-64 tie to end Regulation. In the extra session Southeastern College prevailed 75-73. Davion Bailey led the winners with 25 points. * THE BLACKHAWKS ARE NORTH CENTRAL DISTRICT CHAMPIONS *
SOUTH DISTRICT – The SNEAD STATE PARSONS faced the COASTAL ALABAMA COLLEGE AT BAY MINETTE SUN CHIEFS for this District title. The Parsons were on top of the Sun Chiefs by a score of 37-32 at the break, then an action-packed 2nd Half saw Snead State go on to win this game for the ages by a final tally of 83-80. Neither school has updated their player stats so I have no information on the leading scorer. * THE PARSONS ARE SOUTH DISTRICT CHAMPIONS *
NJCAA DIVISION TWO DISTRICT CHAMPS
MIDWEST DISTRICT – The MILWAUKEE AREA TECHNICAL COLLEGE STORMERS took the court against the OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE PANTHERS. Come Halftime the Panthers had the edge with a 48-45 lead. From there the Stormers came from behind to win by a Century Club-level score of 100-93. Shelton Williams tossed in 20 points to lead Milwaukee Area Tech, while his teammate Mikale Stevenson logged an unusual Double Double of 17 points and 15 assists. * THE STORMERS ARE MIDWEST DISTRICT CHAMPIONS *
EAST DISTRICT – This title tilt pitted the NIAGARA COUNTY COLLEGE THUNDER WOLVES against the SULLIVAN COUNTY COLLEGE GENERALS. The defenses dominated the opening Half, which ended with the Generals clinging to a mere 27-24 edge. After the break the Thunder Wolves rallied for a 63-54 triumph. Lamar Lovelace led Niagara County College with 15 points. * THE THUNDER WOLVES ARE EAST DISTRICT CHAMPIONS *
MID-ATLANTIC DISTRICT – The last two teams standing in this District were the CHESAPEAKE COLLEGE SKIPJACKS and the MONTGOMERY COLLEGE RAPTORS. The Skipjacks had accumulated a 34-26 advantage by Halftime, then got even more separation from the Raptors the rest of the way. In the end, Chesapeake College won 79-59 led by 18 points from JayShaun Freeman. * THE SKIPJACKS ARE MID-ATLANTIC DISTRICT CHAMPIONS *
WEST DISTRICT – The SCOTTSDALE COLLEGE FIGHTING ARTICHOKES (yes, really) took on the PIMA COLLEGE AZTECS. In this clash the Fighting Artichokes dominated, leading the Aztecs 48-32 at the midpoint on their way to a comfortable 90-69 blowout win. Unisa Turay led Scottsdale with 23 points, with teammate Carson Kelly registering a Double Double of 21 points and 12 assists. * THE FIGHTING ARTICHOKES ARE WEST DISTRICT CHAMPIONS *
