The latest results from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) –
USCAA DIVISION ONE
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The top seeded PAUL QUINN COLLEGE TIGERS (should be the Purple Tigers) took the court against the 4 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT ALBANY BOBCATS.
This catfight saw the Tigers smother the Bobcats on both sides of the ball, leading them 42-23 by Halftime. After the break Paul Quinn College maintained its distance from BSC-Albany the rest of way, going on to win the game 80-59. Spencer McElway and Brandon Johnson led the Tigers with 14 points each.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – In this game the 3 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT BUFFALO BOBCATS – clashed with the 2nd seeded CLINTON COLLEGE GOLDEN BEARS.
At the Half the Golden Bears were clinging to a 38-36 edge over their opponents. The Bobcats came out of the locker room primed for a comeback and outscored Clinton College 51-42 in the 2nd Half. The final tally was BSC-Buffalo 87 Golden Bears 80. DJ Little’s THIRTY POINTS led the victors. His teammates Sam Dorissaint and Kalon Kimble notched Double-Doubles with 19 points & 15 rebounds, and 18 points & 10 rebounds, respectively.
USCAA DIVISION TWO
DAY TWO: GAME ONE – The 5th seeded SOUTHERN MAINE COLLEGE SEAWOLVES battled the 4 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI AT HAMILTON HARRIERS.
The Seawolves put the Harriers on upset alert by the midpoint of the game with their 30-23 advantage. From there Southern Maine College outscored their opponents 41-34 to win the contest by a score of 71-57. Leading the Seawolves was Cameren Cousins with his Double-Double of 20 points and 10 rebounds.
DAY TWO: GAME TWO – Up next the top seeds – the PENN STATE AT MONT ALTO NITTANY LIONS – took on the 9th seeded KENT STATE AT TUSCARAWAS GOLDEN EAGLES.
The Golden Eagles played stellar defense in the 1st Half and led the Nittany Lions by a count of 32-24 come Halftime. After the break PSU-Mont Alto dominated in defense, holding Kent State-Tuscarawas to just 24 points while putting up 37 points themselves. Mont Alto won the game 61-56. Darrius Bush led the victors with a Double-Double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
DAY TWO: GAME THREE – The 7th seeded JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY AT CHARLOTTE WILDCATS faced the 2 seeds – the PENN STATE AT WILKES-BARRE NITTANY LIONS (yes, all teams in the PSU system go by Nittany Lions).
The Wildcats provided the Upset of the day as they mauled the Nittany Lions. By the Half Johnson & Wales-Charlotte was leading 38-21 and Penn State-Wilkes Barre found no answers in the 2nd Half. The Wildcats hammered down their opponents by a final score of EIGHTY-NINE to FIFTY-TWO! Anthoney Ray tossed in 21 points to lead JWU-Charlotte.
DAY TWO: GAME FOUR – Wrapping things up for the day, the 3 seeds – the PENN STATE AT YORK NITTANY LIONS – played the 6th seeded NEW HAMPSHIRE TECH LYNX.
The Nittany Lions were out in front of NHTI 33-24 to end the opening Half. After the break PSU-York got more and more distance from the Lynx, ultimately winning the game 81-67. Twenty points from Connor Hostetter led the Nittany Lions.
