FIRST SEMIFINAL – The GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS and the WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS started things off. The Tigers seized control and by Halftime they were clobbering the Crusaders 42-24. From there Georgetown College simply had to keep WCU at arm’s length, which they did for a 94-83 triumph. Chris Coffey led the Tigers with his Double Double of THIRTY-TWO points and 12 rebounds. NJCAA DIVISION ONE
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this Tournament were the 3 seeds – the VINCENNES UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS – and the Cinderella 8th seeded RANGER COLLEGE RANGERS. The Trailblazers had things firmly in hand with a 50-34 Halftime advantage over the Rangers, then coasted to an 87-77 triumph. Kevin Osawe led Vincennes University with a Double Double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. * THE TRAILBLAZERS ARE NJCAA CHAMPIONS *

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded KIRKWOOD COLLEGE EAGLES took on the 2 seeds – the JOHNSON COUNTY COLLEGE CAVALIERS – for the NJCAA Division Two national title. The Eagles were on top of the Cavaliers 33-26 at the break. From there Johnson County College could only cut into Kirkwood’s lead by a fraction. The final score was Eagles 64 Cavaliers 58. Kirkwood College was led by Doug Wilson’s Double Double of THIRTY points and 15 rebounds. * THE EAGLES ARE CHAMPIONS OF NJCAA DIVISION TWO *

FINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – In this game the WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS clashed with the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS. The Drovers were threatening an Upset at the midpoint with their 51-40 lead. The Crusaders came storming back from there to force Overtime with an 86-86 tie. NJCAA DIVISION ONE
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The 3 seeds – the VINCENNES UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS – faced the 2nd seeded SOUTH PLAINS COLLEGE TEXANS. The Trailblazers put the Texans on Upset Alert by Halftime with their 38-31 advantage. After the break Vincennes University left South Plains College further and further behind, ultimately defeating them by a final tally of 85-67. Kevin Osawe’s 22 points led the Trailblazers.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – In this game the 8th seeded RANGER COLLEGE RANGERS took the court against the 4 seeds – the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS. The Rangers provided another Upset, leading the Red Ravens 38-30 at the Half before polishing them off 84-61. Brayan Au led Ranger College with his 27 points.

FIRST SEMIFINAL – The 2 seeds – the JOHNSON COUNTY COLLEGE CAVALIERS – found themselves facing the 14th seeded CECIL COLLEGE SEAHAWKS. The Cavaliers were chasing the Seahawks 29-28 at the end of a defense-oriented opening Half. From there Johnson County College came back to force Overtime with a 68-68 tie. NJCAA DIVISION ONE
FINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – The 8 seeds – the RANGER COLLEGE RANGERS – took on the top seeded NORTHWEST FLORIDA STATE RAIDERS. Stifling defense was the theme of the opening Half, which ended with the Rangers chasing the Raiders 29-26. From there Ranger College outscored Northwest Florida State 40-34 for a comeback win in this 66-63 Upset. Jaren English led the Rangers with 24 points.
FINAL FOUR: SECOND BERTH – In this game the 4th seeded COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS did battle with the 5 seeds – the NORTH CENTRAL MISSOURI PIRATES. A 32-31 Halftime edge for the Pirates wound up as a 60-60 tie to end Regulation. In Overtime the Red Ravens emerged with a 67-66 triumph. DAY ONE, GAME ONE – The LSU-SHREVEPORT PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots) clashed with the WILLIAM JESSUP UNIVERSITY WARRIORS. The Pilots were chasing the Warriors 32-29 at Halftime but outscored them 54-33 after the break for an 83-65 comeback win. LSU-Shreveport was led by Jeff Garrett with his Double Double of 20 points and 13 rebounds.
DAY ONE, GAME TWO – In this game the ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM took on the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be the Flying W’s). The Firestorm held a slight 41-40 edge at the Half then left the Pioneers a bit further behind to defeat them 81-73. Callum Lawson led the way for Arizona Christian University with a Double Double of 23 points and 11 rebounds.
DAY ONE, GAME THREE – The WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN faced the VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS. The defenses dominated in the opening Half, which ended with the Statesmen clinging to a 29-28 lead. After the break William Penn U got some more separation from the Lions for a 69-53 victory. Sixteen points from Abrian Edwards led the way for the Statesmen. Continue reading

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The SPRING ARBOR UNIVERSITY COUGARS went up against the OREGON TECH HUSTLIN’ OWLS for the title in NAIA Division Two. The Cougars wound up on top of the Hustlin’ Owls 44-35 by Halftime. In the 2nd Half Oregon Tech inched a little bit closer but was ultimately left behind as Spring Arbor U won it 82-76. Brandon Durnell led the victors with THIRTY-TWO points. * THE COUGARS ARE CHAMPIONS OF NAIA DIVISION TWO *

DISTRICT 203 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 3 seeds – the MILWAUKEE AREA TECHNICAL COLLEGE STORMERS – faced the top seeded SOUTH SUBURBAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS. The Stormers put the Bulldogs on Upset Alert with a 39-37 edge at the break, then carried through on the deal, winning the game by a score of 75-72. Twenty-three points from Shannon Stanford led Milwaukee Area Tech. * THE STORMERS ADVANCE TO THE NJCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT *
DISTRICT 207 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – In this matchup the DAKOTA COUNTY TECH BLUE KNIGHTS clashed with the SOUTHEAST (NE) COLLEGE STORM. By the midpoint of the game the Blue Knights had eked out a 41-39 lead over the Storm. After the break the two teams went basket for basket, scoring 43 more points each as Dakota County Tech won an 84-82 Instant Classic. FIRST SEMIFINAL – The OREGON TECH HUSTLIN’ OWLS played the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES in Final Four action. The Hustlin’ Owls had the Coyotes on the ropes by Halftime with a massive 52-29 lead. After the break Oregon Tech weathered a minor College of Idaho rally to defeat them 93-81. Seth Erickson put up 27 points to lead the Hustlin’ Owls.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – The Upset-minded SPRING ARBOR UNIVERSITY COUGARS clashed with the MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS. A defense-heavy opening Half ended with the Cougars on top 25-22. From there Spring Arbor University left the Knights further and further behind on their way to a 66-50 triumph. Seventeen points from Brandon Durnell led the Cougars.

DISTRICT TWO CHAMPIONSHIP – The NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN fought the CONNORS STATE COWBOYS. The Golden Norsemen held a 38-29 advantage at the break but the Cowboys wouldn’t go away and even held a few late leads before Northeastern Oklahoma A&M won the game 67-65 off a Rudi Williams jumper with 1.6 seconds to play. USCAA DIVISION ONE
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this tournament were the 4th seeded OAKWOOD UNIVERSITY AMBASSADORS and the Cinderella 7 seeds – the BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES. The opening Half was a tale of stellar defense from both teams and ended with the Ambassadors on top 26-22. After the break each team went basket for basket, putting up 35 more points. Oakwood University won the game 61-57 led by 20 points from Edmen Stewart. * THE AMBASSADORS ARE USCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS *

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – In this tournament’s title tilt the 2 seeds – the GRACE CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS – did battle with the 4th seeded GREAT LAKES CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CRUSADERS. The Tigers seemed in control with a 55-38 Halftime lead but from there the Crusaders came back to force Overtime with a 75-75 tie. In Overtime Kellum Bridgeforth hit a 3-pointer with 5 seconds left to give Grace Christian University an 84-83 win. Bridgeforth led his team with 21 points. * THE TIGERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS OF NCCAA DIVISION TWO *

FINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – The OREGON TECH HUSTLIN’ OWLS clashed with the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. An action-packed 1st Half ended with the Hustlin’ Owls holding a 47-44 edge over the Wildcats. After the break Oregon Tech got more and more separation, ultimately winning the game by a Century Club level score of 107-93. Mitchell Fink notched THIRTY-FOUR points to lead the Hustlin’ Owls. USCAA DIVISION ONE
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The 4 seeds – the OAKWOOD UNIVERSITY AMBASSADORS – faced the top seeded FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONQUISTADORS. The Conquistadors were on top 36-33 come Halftime but from there the Ambassadors outscored FNU 49-30 for an 82-66 Upset win. Michael Middleton scored 23 points to lead Oakwood University.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – In this game the 7th seeded BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES took the court against the 3 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE (Buffalo) BOBCATS. The Big Blues put the Bobcats on Upset Alert at the break with their 28-26 edge. In the 2nd Half Bluefield State mustered a tad more separation to win the game 65-62. Twenty-eight points from Korey Williams led the Big Blues.
NCCAA DIVISION TWO
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The 4 seeds – the GREAT LAKES CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CRUSADERS – squared off against the 8th seeded MARANATHA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SABERCATS. By the midpoint of the game the Crusaders were in control with a 40-28 advantage over the Sabercats. From there Great Lakes Christian College methodically left Maranatha Baptist further and further behind, ultimately defeating them 81-61. USCAA DIVISION ONE
DAY ONE, GAME ONE – The 3 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON (Buffalo) BOBCATS – played the 6th seeded CLINTON COLLEGE GOLDEN BEARS to tip off the Division One Tournament in the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association). By Halftime the Golden Bears had spooked the Bobcats with a 38-29 lead but after the break Bryant & Stratton came roaring from behind to win the game 80-73. Nicc (sic) Johnson’s 19 points led the Bobcats.
DAY ONE, GAME TWO – Up next the 7th seeded BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES took on the 2 seeds – the STRATFORD UNIVERSITY CARDINALS. This was a defensive epic which had the Cardinals on top 27-24 at the Half before the Big Blues rallied. Bluefield State outscored Stratford 28-20 in the 2nd Half for a 52-47 Upset victory.
