FINAL FOUR, FIRST BERTH – The 6th seeded EASTERN FLORIDA STATE TITANS and the Cinderella 14 seeds – the MOTLOW COLLEGE BUCKS – played one of the oddest games of this year’s tournament.
The opening Half was a low-scoring defensive epic and ended with the Titans holding a 25-20 lead over the Bucks. After the break Eastern Florida State continued to smother the Motlow College offense but their own offense burst free, ultimately winning the game by a final count of 65-45. DAY THREE, GAME ONE – The 4 seeds – the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS – faced the 13th seeded SAINT PETERSBURG COLLEGE TITANS to start Day Three.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The AIHEC (American Indian Higher Education Consortium) College Basketball Tournament’s format starts with Pool-Play followed by the more familiar playoff format. The last two teams standing this year were the SISSETON WAHPETON COLLEGE MUSTANGS and the TURTLE MOUNTAIN COLLEGE MIGHTY MICKINOCKS.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The Cinderella 5 seeds – the NORTH LAKE COLLEGE BLAZERS – were still dancing and took on the 2nd seeded ELGIN COUNTY COLLEGE SPARTANS for the title.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this Division’s National Tournament were the top seeds – the COLORADO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS – and the 6th seeded OHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS.
ELITE EIGHT, FIRST BERTH – The (3) LIFE UNIVERSITY RUNNING EAGLES managed a minor upset against the (2) HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS.
FINAL FOUR, FIRST BERTH – It took DOUBLE OVERTIME for a winner to be determined in this particular game. The 5 seeds – the GRACE COLLEGE LANCERS – took on the 4th seeded CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The title game in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics pitted two 1 seeds against each other. The UNION COLLEGE BULLDOGS took the court against the CORNERSTONE UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 4th seeded RANDALL UNIVERSITY SAINTS – the defending National Champions – faced the 7th seeded KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS for the 2017 title.
FINAL FOUR, FIRST BERTH – The (6) BELLEVUE UNIVERSITY BRUINS battled the (1) BETHEL (IN) COLLEGE PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots) for a berth in the 2017 Final Four.
