NJCAA AND NCAA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS CONTINUE

Hutchinson Blue Dragons LogoDAY THREE, GAME ONE – The 4 seeds – the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS – faced the 13th seeded SAINT PETERSBURG COLLEGE TITANS to start Day Three.

The Blue Dragons got a wake-up call, trailing the Titans 43-40 at Halftime. After the break Hutchinson College outscored St Petersburg College 55-35 to win the game by a score of 95-78. Shakur Juiston led the Blue Dragons with a Double Double of 29 points and 12 rebounds.  

Odessa College WranglersDAY THREE, GAME TWO – Up next the 5th seeded ODESSA COLLEGE WRANGLERS took the court against the 12 seeds – the GILLETTE COLLEGE PRONGHORNS.

The 5-12 matchup in college hoops is traditionally a potential upset but not in this case. The Wranglers dominated the 1st Half, leading the Pronghorns 47-31 by the break. From there Odessa College had to withstand a furious comeback attempt by Gillette College, but in the end wrangled the Pronghorns by a count of 83-76. Seventeen points from Kejuan Johnson led the victors.  

Motlow College BucksDAY THREE, GAME THREE – This Instant Classic was also the Upset of the Day and pitted the 14 seeds – the MOTLOW COLLEGE BUCKS – against the 3rd seeded GEORGIA HIGHLANDS COLLEGE CHARGERS.

The Bucks put the Chargers on Upset Alert at the Half by way of their 40-34 advantage. After the break Motlow College held on by their fingertips for a hard-fought 70-69 triumph. Javion Hamlet tossed in 20 points to lead the Bucks.  

Eastern Florida State TitansDAY THREE, GAME FOUR – In the final game of the day the 6th seeded EASTERN FLORIDA STATE TITANS clashed with the 22nd seeded MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS.

The Titans maintained a businesslike command of the contest, leading the Mustangs 49-41 at the midpoint on their way to an 89-72 victory. Eastern Florida State’s effort was led by Ahmed Ali with 22 points and 7 rebounds.
