*** NCCAA DIVISION ONE ***
FINAL FOUR, FIRST BERTH – It took DOUBLE OVERTIME for a winner to be determined in this particular game. The 5 seeds – the GRACE COLLEGE LANCERS – took on the 4th seeded CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS.
At Halftime the two teams were tied at 33-33, then traded blow for blow and basket for basket again in the 2nd Half. Regulation ended with the score knotted up at 65-65 and the 1st Overtime session ended in a 72-72 deadlock. In the 2nd OT the Lancers at last emerged triumphant by a final score of 86-80. Grace College’s Erik Bowen and Logan Godfrey each notched a Double Double, Bowen with THIRTY-ONE points and 12 rebounds and Godfrey with 12 points and 12 boards of his own.
FINAL FOUR, SECOND BERTH – This game pitted the 2nd seeded Defending Champs – the EMMANUEL COLLEGE LIONS against the 7 seeds – the LIFE PACIFIC COLLEGE WARRIORS.
A thrilling opening Half came to a close with the Lions clinging to a 37-35 edge over the Warriors. After the break Emmanuel College eventually carved out a little breathing room and won the game 71-65. Emmerson McClug’s 18 points led the Lions to victory.
FINAL FOUR, THIRD BERTH – This was a 6 seed over 3 seed Upset as the (6) OHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS squared off against the (3) DALLAS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PATRIOTS.
The Trailblazers put the Patriots on Upset Alert by Halftime with a 36-32 lead. From there Ohio Christian University went on to make good on that threat by defeating Dallas Baptist 87-80. Marquis Jackson tossed in THIRTY-EIGHT points for the Trailblazers in this win.
FINAL FOUR, LAST BERTH – Fighting it out for this remaining slot in the 2017 Final Four for the NCCAA were the top seeds – the COLORADO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS – and the 8th seeded HIWASSEE COLLEGE TIGERS.
This catfight lacked drama as the Cougars dominated all the way, leading the Tigers 40-29 at the break and winning the game by a final tally of 94-68. Twenty points from Dimitri Saliba led Colorado Christian University while his teammate Jacob Taylor registered a Double Double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
