GREAT PLAINS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – In a very busy opening day of the GPAC tournament the 5th seeded NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES upset the 4 seeds, the MT MARTY LANCERS, by a score of 5-1. ### In the top spot the NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE (IA) RED RAIDERS had their hands full with the 8th seeded DAKOTA WESLEYAN TIGERS but emerged in the end with a 4-3 victory. In their 2nd game of the day the Red Raiders defeated the Prairie Wolves by a score of 3-1. Balladeer’s Blog’s February Frenzy continues tonight! Not only do more conferences tip off their tournaments but regional tournaments for the NorCal and SoCal divisions in the CCCAA also start tonight.
The NAIA’s California Maritime Academy Keelhaulers (logo at left) are the 1 seed in the California Pacific Conference tournament which will begin at 10:30pm ET. The Keelhaulers (love that name) went 19-9 in the regular season and if they get upset the 4th- seeded Menlo Oaks are my darkhorse pick to take the CPC title.

Tonight at 7pm ET additional tournaments tip off in the conferences of college basketball covered by Balladeer’s Blog. The Virginia Intermont College Cobras (logo at left) are the 5 seed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference and they will take on the 4 seeds, the Bryan Lions, tonight.
