HALLOWEEN SEASON DIVERSION: A 2ND SNEAK PEEK AT MY UPCOMING BAD MOVIE PAGE

As I mentioned a little while back, I’ll soon be launching my Bad and Weird Movie Page as a companion to my Mythology pages. Previously I posted about Assignment: Terror and this time, in the spirit of the Halloween Season I’ll post my review of another film that uses the old classic monsters in a wildly oddball manner. The film is called Blood!, and it’s by the one and only Andy Milligan. For that review read on. For my review of Assignment: Terror click here: https://glitternight.com/2010/10/14/sneak-preview-of-my-badweird-movie-page/

For my Halloween Season Diversion look at Son Of Svengoolie click here: https://glitternight.com/2010/10/21/halloween-diversion-son-of-svengoolie/

And now, for a preview of my review of Blood!

BLOOD! (1974) – Category: Laughably, enjoyably bad, but not fun-bad enough for my highest rating.         This movie is by Andy Milligan, so bad movie buffs know what to expect.  This time out our Staten Island auteur gives us a story about the son of the wolfman and the daughter of Dracula being a married couple. No, it’s not the premise for a wacky new sitcom, it’s Continue reading

BAD MOVIE: BLOOD FREAK (1972)

Blood FreakBLOOD FREAK (1972) – Category: A neglected bad movie classic that deserves a Plan 9-sized cult following      This film is so comparatively well-known that I considered not including it, but it’s one of my all-time favorites so I’ll include it but just keep the entry short. The lead character in this movie is a biker named Herschell. It’s possible his motorcycle is called Shlomo but I don’t have a second source on that. (Sorry, I was channeling an old Borscht Belt comedian again) No, the director Brad Grinter admits he named the character after  legendary splatter film genius Herschell Gordon Lewis.

Herschell gets a job at a turkey farm and at one point eats a turkey (and when I say “eats a turkey” I mean he literally just sits down with a knife, a fork and a whole cooked turkey and wolfs it all down)  treated with experimental chemicals by two mad scientists and … he turns into a man-sized turkey monster with an addiction to human blood.

No, this film is not an Continue reading

BAD MOVIE PAGE: THE BABY (1973)

The Baby 1973THE BABY (1973) – Category: The 70′s version of camp, with a premise and plot elements that would have been banned in previous decades.

It’s hard to believe Ted Post was involved with this strange movie. It was considered very weird and kinky even in the 1970′s when it came out, and that was long before the internet made the entire world aware of the infantilism fetish that this film reeks of!

“Baby” himself redefines the expression “arrested development”, since he’s a full-grown adult who crawls around in a diaper (which needs changing occassionally – EEEWWWW), sleeps in a big crib, eats baby food and doesn’t speak. And by the way, it’s a horror film

His creepy mother and Continue reading

No, it’s not the premise for a wacky new sitcom, it’s an actual attempt at a horror film.

Wolfie Jr is trying to ween his undead bride off her addiction to human blood by substituting a sap produced by his man-eating plants (He creates these Continue reading

BAD MOVIE: ALIEN LOVER (1975) –

alien loverALIEN LOVER (1975) – CategoryEnjoy-ably campy bad movie elevated by kitsch-value in the casting.

***
Pernell Roberts and a really young Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) in her pre-Ryan’s Hope and Mrs. Columbo days add the additional comic value to this made-for-tv horror/sci fi hybrid.
***
It was an hour and a half with commercials so with them edited out it’s just 60-some minutes long. Kate plays a teenaged recovering loony who starts communicating with a teen from another dimension via a broken tv set in the attic of her home. The tv set can absorb
people from our dimension into the alien dimension.
