COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS FROM MAY 27TH FOR THE NAIA, NJCAA, D2 AND D3

* NAIA *  

The 7th seeded LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS and the 4th seeded NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY (TX) KNIGHTS were in a tight 5-4 contest headed into the 8th inning. The Warriors’ bats went into overdrive during the final 2 innings and provided a 9-5 elimination game victory to Lewis-Clark State.    ###    Meanwhile the 3 seeds, the EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES, pulled off an upset of their own. ERAU turned a 3-1 6th inning lead by the 2nd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES into a 5-4 triumph for themselves.    ###    College World Series 1st-timers, the 9th seeded MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS, stayed alive by eliminating the 10th seeded ROGERS STATE UNIVERSITY HILLCATS in a 5-4 comeback win.    ###    And the top seeded FAULKNER EAGLES held off an 8th and 9th inning rally from the (til-then) scoreless MASTER’S MUSTANGS. The Eagles eliminated the Mustangs by a final score of 7-6.

* NCAA D2 *

Yesterday the GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY LAKERS led the SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY RED RAIDERS 7-0 in the 5th inning and coasted the rest of the way to eliminate the Red Raiders by a final score of 8-4.    ###    In the only other game played yesterday in D2’s World Series the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS converted a 6-1 5th inning lead over the FRANKLIN PIERCE UNIVERSITY RAVENS into a 10-5 victory by the time all the dust had settled.

* NCAA D3 *

After 4 innings the ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS trailed the LINFIELD COLLEGE WILDCATS by a score of 3-1. In the top of the 5th the Bombers put up 3 more runs, plus 1 more each in the 6th and 9th to emerge with a 6-5 win.    ###    And the game between the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MAINE HUSKIES and the STEVENS POINT POINTERS was scoreless going into the top of the 4th. The score was 5-1 in favor of the Huskies when that inning was complete and the rout was on. The final tally was Huskies 8  Pointers 1.    

* NJCAA1 *

In yesterday’s College World Series action for the NJCAA Division One the SPARTANBURG METHODIST COLLEGE PIONEERS dismembered the CONNORS STATE COWBOYS by an unbelievable score of SEVENTEEN to NOTHING.    ###    The PALM BEACH STATE PANTHERS eliminated the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS in 10 innings. After 9 the score was tied at 9 all. The Panthers scored 6 more to win 15-9.    ###    And the CENTRAL ALABAMA COLLEGE TROJANS decimated the MIDLAND COLLEGE CHAPARRALS by a score of 11-4.  

* NJCAA2 *

The NORTH IOWA TROJANS and the MURRAY STATE COLLEGE AGGIES played the closest game yesterday in the NJCAA Division 2 World Series. The Trojans eked out a 7-6 victory over the Aggies.   ###   Meanwhile the MADISON COLLEGE WOLFPACK eliminated the GRAND RAPIDS RAIDERS in a 9-1 thrashing.   ###   And the defending champs, the LSU-EUNICE BENGALS smacked around the SCOTTSDALE COLLEGE FIGHTING ARTICHOKES to the tune of 8-1.

* NJCAA3 *

The CENTURY COLLEGE WOOD DUCKS folded, spindled and mutilated the NASSAU LIONS in a 12-0 laugher.   ###   The GLOUCESTER COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS stayed perfect in World Series play, trouncing the WAUBONSEE COLLEGE CHIEFS 13-0. The Roadrunners advance to the title game to await the winner of the remaining games.   ###   And the BROOKHAVEN COLLEGE BEARS eliminated the defending champions of NJCAA Division 3 baseball, the NIAGARA COLLEGE THUNDER WOLVES, by a final score of 6-2.
