MAY 1ST COLLEGE BASEBALL CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT RESULTS

TRINITY CHRISTIAN TROLLCHICAGOLAND COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – Yesterday was Day Two of the CCAC conference tourney. The 6th seeded TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS stayed alive by stunning the 2nd seeded OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS, sending them home after a very memorable 5-2 game.   ###   In a 5 over 3 upset the ST FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS took down the ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES in a 4-3 Instant Classic.   ###   The top seeded JUDSON EAGLES stayed unbeaten in the tournament by eliminating the (4) PURDUE-NORTH CENTRAL PANTHERS by a tight score of 5-4.

USAO Drovers BIGSOONER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS came in at the 4 spot yesterday and won a 6-5 game for the ages against the 5th seeded ROGERS STATE UNIVERSITY HILLCATS.   ###   Meanwhile the top seeded OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS had their hands full with the 8th seeded MID-AMERICA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EVANGELS before emerging with a 4-2 victory.   ###   The (2) LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY CHAPARRALS downed the (7) ST GREGORY’S CAVALIERS  3-1.   ###   And the 3 seeds, the OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON survived a 6-5 game with the 6th seeded WAYLAND BAPTIST PIONEERS. 

Evangel-LogoHEART OF AMERICA ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 4th seeded EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS upset the 3rd seeded MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS in a 2-1 Instant Classic.   ###   The (5) AVILA EAGLES eked out a 1-0 upset win of their own over the (2) PERU STATE BOBCATS.   ###   In the top spot the CENTRAL METHODIST EAGLES demolished the 6th seeded BENEDICTINE RAVENS 6-0. The Eagles followed that up by eliminating MidAmerica Nazarene in an 8-0 butt-kicking.   ###   Peru State bounced back from their loss earlier in the day by eliminating the Ravens in a 9-2 drubbing.   

st__ambrose_fighting_beeMIDWEST COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE – The (4) ST AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES staved off elimination by defeating the (6) MT MERCY MUSTANGS by a score of 3-1.   ###   The (1) WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN eliminated the (5) CLARKE CRUSADERS in a 3-2 Instant Classic.   ###   And the 2nd seeded VITERBO V-HAWKS (love that name) manhandled the 3rd seeded GRAND VIEW VIKINGS to the tune of 6-1.

Huntington College Foresters logoCROSSROADS LEAGUE – The 6th seeded HUNTINGTON FORESTERS stayed alive with a 7-2 thrashing of the (7) BETHEL (IN) PILOTS (riverboat pilots). The Foresters were facing elimination after their loss earlier in the day to the (3) MT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY COUGARS by a score of 6-2.   ###   The (2) SPRING ARBOR COUGARS blanked Bethel (IN) in a 7-0 laugher.   ###   The top seeded TAYLOR TROJANS defeated the (8) MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS  5-1.   ###   The (4) ST FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS clubbed the (5) INDIANA WESLEYAN WILDCATS  13-6. The Wildcats then took their anger out on Marian U, eliminating them 9-5.

jamestown college jimmiesFRONTIER CONFERENCE – The 2 seeds, the JAMESTOWN COLLEGE JIMMIES, defeated the 3rd seeded DICKINSON STATE UNIVERSITY BLUE HAWKS yesterday by a score of 3-1. If you’re like me you’re wondering where you can buy these snazzy Jamestown Jimmies bathroom tiles. Sweet!  ###   In the 5 spot the DAKOTA STATE TROJANS won a 14-13 TWELVE INNING marathon with the 4th seeded VALLEY CITY STATE UNIVERSITY VIKINGS.   ###   And the top seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS then defeated those same Trojans in the late game by a very tight score of 8-7.  

virginia intermontAPPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 6th seeded VIRGINIA INTERMONT COBRAS continue to be THE story of the AAC tournament. Yesterday in Round 2 they pulled off another upset, this time bringing down the 2nd seeded UNION (KY) BULLDOGS in an 11-9 scoring orgy.   ###   The 4 seeds, the MILLIGAN BUFFALOES, eliminated the (8) MONTREAT CAVALIERS 9-8 in a TWELVE INNING classic.   ###   The 7th seeded BRYAN LIONS stunned the (3) ST ANDREWS KNIGHTS by bouncing them in a 5-2 affair.   ###   And the top seeded defending champions of NAIA baseball, the TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS, took care of business by beating the (5) REINHARDT EAGLES in a memorable 4-2 game.

Concordia (OR) CavaliersCALIFORNIA PACIFIC CONFERENCE/ CASCADE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE GROUP – The CONCORDIA (OR) CAVALIERS came into the tournament as the 4 seeds, but ROLLED on Day One. First the Cavaliers defeated the 5th seeded OREGON TECH HUSTLIN’ OWLS 4-3 in a FIFTEEN INNING ordeal. Then in the night game they shocked the top seeds, the BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS in a 2-1 game for the ages.   ###   And the 2nd seeded MENLO COLLEGE OAKS took down the 3rd seeded CORBAN WARRIORS in a TWELVE INNING marathon of their own. The final score was Oaks 11  Warriors 5.
