USAO Drover newHUTCHINSON BRACKET: DAY ONE – The top seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS – took an 8-0 1st Inning lead over the 4th seeded MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS. The Drovers never looked back and totaled the Mustangs TWENTY-FOUR to ONE!   ###    Earlier in the day the aforementioned Morningside College defeated the 5th seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS in a 6-0 shutout   ###   And in a 3 seed over 2 seed upset the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS doubled up on the TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS 4-2.   Continue reading

COLLEGE BASEBALL POSTSEASON RESULTS FROM YESTERDAY

Cumberland County College DukesDISTRICT G –   CHAMPIONSHIP GAME   –   Yesterday saw the district championship games for a variety of districts – among them District G. The CUMBERLAND COUNTY COLLEGE DUKES defeated the defending national champions in NJCAA3 baseball – the GLOUCESTER COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS.   The final score in this rout was 11-4.   CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DUKES! (2014 record – 46-8)

Suffolk County Sharks logoDISTRICT F –   CHAMPIONSHIP GAME   –   The title for District F was battled over by the SUFFOLK COUNTY COLLEGE SHARKS and the NASSAU COLLEGE LIONS. In the clash between these two kings of their respective elements it was all Sharks. Suffolk County College eviscerated the Lions SEVENTEEN to ONE! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SHARKS! CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS END THE YEAR RANKED AT 19

The NAIA Football Coaches’ Postseason Top 25 Poll has been released by the national office and the University of the Cumberlands football team ended the year with a final ranking of 19th.

I LOVE HAVING PLAYOFFS IN THE DIVISIONS I COVER, BUT 1A PLAYOFF ADVOCATES NEED TO LEARN A FEW THINGS

The 2nd round of the NAIA, NCAA Division 3 and Division 2 football playoffs are this Saturday. At this time of year I always try to sell 1A football fans on watching these playoffs since so many of them complain about the lack of a playoff at college football’s top level. In recent years even slimy politicians like Republican Orrin Hatch (Motto: “A 21st Century man with a 19th Century worldview”) and Democrat Barack Obama (Motto: “The first demagogue in history to be utterly helpless without a teleprompter”) have tried to wrangle votes by endorsing a playoff for NCAA Division 1A football.
