CAN ANY TEAMS CHALLENGE ALABAMA AND CLEMSON FOR THE NEXT COLLEGE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP?

CFP Championship PlayoffThree of the last four CFP Championship playoffs have featured the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers. Such has been their dominance of college football in recent times, most football pundits anticipate Alabama and Clemson being leading contenders to make it four playoff appearances in the last five seasons. Some people believe it’s simply a formality that all other college sides will fall be the wayside at some point doing the season, with several other bigtime programs failing to live up to expectations.

According to the latest CFP Championship ratings at Oddschecker, the sportsbooks rate Clemson’s chances of overcoming Alabama and doubling down after their annihilation of the Crimson Tide in January’s final. However, there’s always a chance that the form book will be ripped up and new teams will battle their way to the playoffs. UNSURE ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKS? LOAD UP ON DATA FROM THE EXPERTS

College footballCollege football season 2017 has just gotten underway but is already proving that it’s harder than ever to make picks.

My own personal opinion is that the overabundance of details to be had in this internet age creates a virtual “fog of war” and makes it even more difficult to separate vital information from mere noise. Sites like Yahoo Sports or even outright sports machines like Sports Illustrated often get too clever for their own good.

Cutting through the confusion calls for an approach like the one in this article  which omits the tiresome name-dropping that the guys at those other sites are so dependent upon. Continue reading

PRESSURE BUILDS ON CONTENDERS AS COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF RANKINGS LOOM

dog-in-football-uniformWith the publication of the inaugural College Football Playoff rankings less than a week away, a number of key Week 9 matchups take on even greater importance, with nation’s top-ranked teams looking to catch the eye of the CFP selection committee.

No. 1 Mississippi State has risen to the top of the national rankings following three straight wins over top 10 teams, and will be looking to improve on their perfect 6-0 record when they travel to Kentucky to take on the Wildcats.

The Bulldogs, who opened the season outside the Top 25, are pegged as early 13.5-point road favorites over Kentucky in college football betting odds published at bettingsports.com. Mississippi State is currently riding a nine-game winning streak and have rewarded bettors with a 9-1 record ATS in their last 10 games, but will need a win to keep ahead of the other two undefeated teams vying for CFP consideration.

No. 2 Florida State, SU winners in their last 23, head into a bye in Week 9 at 7-0 following a 31-27 win over No. 5 Notre Dame on Saturday night. While the Noles have padded their SU record, they have been a disappointment to bettors, covering the spread just once in their last eight dating back to last season’s national championship Continue reading

TOP 3 GAMES IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK EIGHT

football_boxer_puppy_poster-p228465298624353108tdcp_400With 7 weeks already gone in this year’s college football calendar, the league is starting to shape up as strong teams rise to the top while the weaker ones fall further behind to the leading pack. And then there are the average teams that are not far from the leaders, but also not too distant from those lagging behind, giving both the leaders and those behind something to smile about. As the games in Week 8 begin, many, if not all, teams will be looking for a win, either to stay ahead of the rest or to play catch up to the leaders. For the following three matchups, however, the college bets are bound to be exponentially high because the stakes of the games are equally, making them the top three games of Week 8. Below are these top games in descending order:

TIME: 8:00 PM ET

VENUE: Doak Campbell Stadium (Tallahassee, Florida)
