TOP 3 GAMES IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK EIGHT

football_boxer_puppy_poster-p228465298624353108tdcp_400With 7 weeks already gone in this year’s college football calendar, the league is starting to shape up as strong teams rise to the top while the weaker ones fall further behind to the leading pack. And then there are the average teams that are not far from the leaders, but also not too distant from those lagging behind, giving both the leaders and those behind something to smile about. As the games in Week 8 begin, many, if not all, teams will be looking for a win, either to stay ahead of the rest or to play catch up to the leaders. For the following three matchups, however, the college bets are bound to be exponentially high because the stakes of the games are equally, making them the top three games of Week 8. Below are these top games in descending order:

GAME 1: #5 Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. #2 Florida State Seminoles

DATE: Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014

TIME: 8:00 PM ET

VENUE: Doak Campbell Stadium (Tallahassee, Florida)

Simply put, this matchup has all the hallmarks of a game-of-the-season written all over it.

Though Florida leads the series 5-2, both teams have gotten off to a perfect 6-0 start of the season. For both teams, their respective national standings are at stake and winning the game will aptly position the victorious team for a strong finish to the season. Since both teams are arguably strong offensively and defensively, winning the game will come down to taking advantage of small mistakes and individual brilliance of ace players rather than team effort. Notre Dame will make a strong case for a win, but Florida State will hear none of that. Putting your money on a Seminoles win is the smart bet here.

GAME 2: #14 Kansas State Wildcats vs. #11 Oklahoma Sooners

DATE: Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014

TIME: 12:00 PM ET

VENUE: Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium (Norman, Oklahoma)

Speaking from a general standpoint, the Oklahoma Sooners deserved to lose against the Texas Longhorns last week. How they managed to get the 31-26 victory in spite of playing one of their worst games of the season is still a mystery to many football pundits, me included. But with the Wildcats placed one spot above the Sooners, and the supremacy in the Big 12 conference put on the line, I bet the 5-1 (4th in Big 12) Oklahoma will play the game of their lives and most likely get a victory at the expense of the 4-1 (3rd in Big 12) Kansas State. The Oklahoma Sooners also enter the game as betting favorites, the line for this game is Sooners -7-points.

Game: #21 Texas A&M Aggies vs. #7Alabama Crimson Tide

DATE: Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014

TIME: 3:30 PM ET

VENUE: Bryant-Denny Stadium (Tuscaloosa, Alabama)

Having lost to the No. 1 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs and No. 3 ranked Ole Miss Rebels, the fixtures should have been kinder to the 5-2 Aggies and give them a not-so-tough team to play as they lick their back-to-back loss wounds. Sadly, next for them is the 5-1 Alabama Crimson Tide, a team that is looking to deliver a convincing performance after their lackluster 14-13 win over Arkansas last weekend. If Alabama plays like it did in its last fixture, Kenny Hill and company will punish them and even escape with a victory. But knowing the Crimson Tide and how they are good at rising to big occasions, I see Alabama grinding out a victory in this game.
