COLLEGE FOOTBALL SCOREBOARDS FOR SEPTEMBER 3RD

Here is my weekly Saturday post providing links to updating scoreboards in the divisions of college football that Balladeer’s Blog covers. First, though, some quick comments about a few of last night’s games:

D2’s 6th- ranked  TAMK  Javelinas (the team that Hall of Famer Darrell Green played his college ball for)  picked up a road win last night with an authoritative 21-10 victory over the  Central Washington Wildcats.

The NAIA’s Mayville State Comets nearly pulled off an upset of a higher division team last night, but ultimately fell to the D2 Minnesota- Crookston Golden Eagles by a score of 31-29. With the loss the Comets are now 1-1 for the season.

In D3 football the Dartmouth Corsairs took down the Mt Ida Mustangs in a 24-21 Instant Classic of a game.

And now, links to each division’s scoreboards –

NOTEWORTHY RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 1ST’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMES: NAIA, D2, D3 AND NJCAA

Last night started the second week of college football action (no matter what ESPN wants to pretend) and here is my latest take on some outcomes of note.

The Malone Pioneers Rule The World – The NAIA’s Malone Pioneers took down NCAA Division 2’s Tiffin Dragons 40-34 in Double Overtime, earning my usual headline when a team defeats a team from a higher division. To put this in context for newbies to lower division football this is like when a 1AA (FCS if you’re gutless) team upsets a 1A (FBS if you’re gutless) team … Honorable mention goes to D2’s 2nd ranked team, the Delta State Statesmen, who came within one point of toppling the 1AA Northwestern State Demons in a 24-23 nailbiter.

Top 25 Upsets – NCAA Division 2 – D2 was the only division in which ranked teams were upset last night. The 11th ranked California (PA) Vulcans fell at home to the 13th ranked St Cloud State Huskies in a 26-3 spanking … The unranked Pueblo Thunderwolves upset the Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL SCOREBOARDS FOR SEPT 1ST – NAIA, NJCAA, D3 AND D2

Tonight all four of the divisions Balladeer’s Blog covers will be playing games. Last Thursday through Saturday everybody but NCAA Division 3 started their football season (so ignore what ESPN says about tonight being the start of  the 2011 college football season. They always ignore the divisions they don’t have the television contracts for.) Here are links for updated scoreboards for tonight’s games by division:

NAIA COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYERS SIGNED IN THE NFL

Recently I looked at NCAA Division 3 players signed to NFL teams. Now let’s take a look at the NAIA football players signed by NFL teams in this year’s odd, frenzied period of free agent signings.

The Chargers took Patrick Crayton from the NWOSU Rangers, the Bills took Michael Jasper from the Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG TURNS ONE YEAR OLD TODAY

Yes, it was one year ago that I made my very post on this blog. A humorous (supposedly) bit on the really odd names of some lesser-known college sports teams. It’s pretty raw, as I was just learning how to play with the blog tools. Here is a link to it if you want to see my blog’s “baby pictures”. https://glitternight.com/2010/06/21/the-20-coolest-named-college-sports-teams-you-may-have-never-heard-of-naia-edition/

FORTY-SIX NAIA BASEBALL PLAYERS SELECTED IN 2011 MLB DRAFT

Point Loma Nazarene University Sea Lions Baseball Stadium

It’s time for a tradition I started last summer – announcing which baseball players from NAIA colleges got selected in the Major League Baseball Draft. If you have dreams of playing in the Majors, NAIA schools are just as much a stepping stone as the other divisions of college sports.

As with last year’s list, the nicknames I give to the players on this list are, to the best of my knowledge, purely my own kidding invention and any resemblance to actual nicknames applied to these players is strictly coincidental … and I’m sure they’re eternally grateful for that fact.

“Orion” Ryan O’Sullivan – Oklahoma City Stars – to the Dodgers

Jesse “James” Darrah – Continue reading
