The wait is nearly over for the start of the debut intercollegiate football season for the UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS!
This Division Two team will play in the Gulf South Conference – often called the SEC of D2 football. Yes, the most wonderful time of the year begins next Thursday, August 25th! The NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) kicks off the 2016 college football season with a slate of four Thursday night games.
The LYON COLLEGE SCOTS (helmet at left) start their second season of intercollegiate football by hosting the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be the Flying W’s).

The NFL has been attempting to make the game safer for players over the last few years, and one of the ways the league decided to do so was to try and eliminate the kickoff. While the league didn’t end the kickoff, they moved the spot closer to the opposing end zone to increase the chances of touchbacks, which eliminates a return by the receiving team. As expected, the changes weren’t appreciated by some players, one of whom is Chris Maragos of the Philadelphia Eagles. After the disappointing season the Eagles had last year, they won’t be favored in a lot of NFL spreads this season, so be careful when placing bets on the team. Continue reading

Unfortunately “Let Your Pet Play Center Day” has been done away with.
In a bid to keep the game competitive, fair, exciting and protect the players from unnecessary risk, the National Football Foundation and College Football Officiating group have released the 2016 season rule changes. College Football lines suggest that officiating will become a much easier task. The big question would be if these changes would affect the college football lines in all major sportsbooks and we will be finding out very soon.

ASA College Avengers
To help us all hang on until the 2016 college football season kicks off Balladeer’s Blog looks at some of the coolest helmets in the NJCAA.
