Yes, newbies to Balladeer’s Blog, the divisions of college football covered here settle their seasons on the field. Today the CC Fighting Saints, the defending champions of NAIA football, welcome the Azusa Pacific Cougars to Helena, MT for quarter- final action. Will CC once again derail the Cougars’ post season run or will APU rise up and dethrone the champs? Watch and see.

Meanwhile the NAIA’s Top Seeded Marian University Knights will host the University of St Francis (IL) Fighting Saints and the St Xavier University Cougars, who spent most of the 2011 season ranked at number 1 in the polls, travel to take on the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers.

In SCFA college football the Mt San Antonio College Mounties, the defending SCFA champs as well as the defending CCCAA champs, welcome the Cerritos Falcons for the SCFA crown. COLLEGE FOOTBALL SCOREBOARDS FOR NOVEMBER 19TH

Today brings us the opening round of the NAIA college football playoffs, and they’re joined, of course, by some of the other divisions of college football covered by Balladeer’s Blog. There are also several Bowl games scheduled for today as well. See my preview earlier in the week for your favorite team’s matchup.

The National Christian College Athletic Association’s Victory Bowl will also be played today with the Greenville College Panthers taking on the Campbellsville Tigers. See below for the video link.

Naturally I’ll have my usual pithy recaps of the day’s gridiron action tomorrow morning. For today, spread the word to fans of NCAA Division 1 football that they can see the kind of intercollegiate football playoff action they can’t get from D1. And now, links to updating scoreboards for the divisions of college football covered here at Balladeer’s Blog:

NCAA DIVISION 3 COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF TEAMS FOR 2011

FOR THE LATEST D3 FOOTBALL RESULTS CLICK HERE: https://glitternight.com/2011/11/27/college-football-playoff-results-from-november-26th/

Two days ago I addressed the NAIA college football playoff teams, yesterday the NCAA Division 2 field and today I hit D3. All is in order in the cosmos because the undefeated defending champions of D3 football, the Whitewater Warhawks, are the overall number one seed. Since my blog is largely an introduction to the divisions of college football that I cover I’ll point out for newbies that the Warhawks have played the Mt Union Purple Raiders (also a one seed in their region) in the D3 title game for the past SIX YEARS IN A ROW! The teams have split the series three games each, so stay tuned to see if we have a seventh straight championship tilt between these two or if another team at last rises up and knocks at least one of these powerhouses out of the playoffs. The Mary Hardin- Baylor Crusaders and the Delaware Valley Aggies are the other two number one seeds.

OPENING ROUND MATCHUPS – SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19TH

ALBION BRITONS @ UWW WARHAWKS   /   BENEDICTINE EAGLES @ MUC PURPLE RAIDERS

REDLANDS BULLDOGS @ MHBU CRUSADERS   /   NORWICH CADETS @ DEL VAL AGGIES

CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT CAPTAINS @ KEAN COUGARS   /   THOMAS MORE SAINTS @ FRANKLIN GRIZZLIES

WNEC GOLDEN BEARS @ SALISBURY SEA GULLS   /   MONMOUTH (IL) SCOTS @ Continue reading

LET’S TRY THIS AGAIN: ANOTHER SPORTSCASTER NEEDS ENLIGHTENED

I once again heard a nationwide sports radio figure pushing the wide-spread misconception that a football playoff in Division 1A (Or Bowl Subdivision if you prefer) would take the top 8 teams in the rankings. For my post where I refuted that and other mistaken notions about a 1A football playoff click here: https://glitternight.com/2010/11/23/i-love-having-playoffs-in-the-divisions-i-cover-but-1a-playoff-advocates-need-to-learn-a-few-things/

RESULTS OF DECEMBER 11TH’S FOOTBALL GAMES – D3 AND D2 SEMIFINALS

Well, it is now official – make it SIX years in a row that the Whitewater Warhawks and the Mount Union Purple Raiders will play each other for the D3 football National Championship. The Warhawks upheld their end of the bargain today by trashing the Wesley Wolverines on their own field by a final score of 27-7. All of this is made more impressive when you consider that for the 4th week in a row Whitewater was without Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL SCOREBOARDS FOR DECEMBER 11TH

No NAIA football games today. Their championship game between the Sioux Falls Cougars and the CC Fighting Saints will be held next Saturday in good old Rome, GA of course.

NCAA DIVISION 3 SEMIFINALS

Whitewater Warhawks … Wesley Wolverines … Why, what wonders we will witness, won’t we? – Alliteration aside, the Wolverines try to do what no other D3 football team has been able to accomplish in the past 5 years – break the half-decade stranglehold that the Warhawks and the Continue reading

CAN REPORTERS WHO COVER 1A FOOTBALL GET SOMETHING THROUGH THEIR HEADS?

EXCUSE ME FOR USING ALL CAPS HERE BUT I JUST HEARD TWO MORE TALKING HEADS IN CABLE SPORTS MISTAKENLY CLAIM THAT A PLAYOFF IN 1A FOOTBALL WOULD TAKE THE TOP 8 TEAMS IN THE RANKINGS!!! TO SAVE MY CYBER-BREATH HERE’S A LINK TO MY BIT WHERE I DEBUNK THAT AND OTHER MISCONCEPTIONS: https://glitternight.com/2010/11/23/i-love-having-playoffs-in-the-divisions-i-cover-but-1a-playoff-advocates-need-to-learn-a-few-things/

DECEMBER 4TH’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS

NAIA SEMIFINALS

The football gods love drama, as evidenced by the fact that the NAIA National Championship Game will get one final round of the Sioux Falls Cougars taking on the CC Fighting Saints before USF heads off for D2. In 2007 the Fighting Saints beat the Cougars 17-9. The following year USF defeated CC in a filthy, rainy, muddy, beauty of a game by a final score of 23-7.

Saturday, December 18th will see the rubber game between these two NAIA football dynasties of recent years. The Cougars also won titles in 1996, 2006 and just last December and are hoping for a Threepeat. The Fighting Saints won the title four years in a row earlier this decade. At least one of these teams has played in every National Championship game since 2002. It’s very appropriate to see them square off against each other one Continue reading
