RIVER STATES CONFERENCE
GRENADIERS ROLLING – The West’s 1 seed – the INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTHEAST GRENADIERS – took on the East’s 4th seeded UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE (OH) RED STORM.
At Halftime the score was knotted up at 47-47 but after the break the Grenadiers pulled away from the Red Storm and won the game by a final score of 93-79. Jamie Johnson tossed in 25 points to lead Indiana University Southeast.
THREE OVER TWO UPSET – In this game the East’s 3rd seeded OHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS did battle with the West’s 2 seed – the CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES.
The Trailblazers trailed the Eagles at the break by a count of 48-47 but in the 2nd Half Ohio Christian’s wealth of postseason experience told the tale as they came from behind for a Century Club-level 104-91 triumph. INSTANT CLASSIC – The tightest game of the night was played between the 3rd seeded CALUMET COLLEGE CRIMSON WAVE and the 6 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS. Despite a pitiful night from the Foul Line (Just 56.5 percent!) the Crimson Wave still managed to win this hardcourt epic 84-82. Damonte Lowery tossed in 21 points and had 6 rebounds for Calumet College, while his teammate Darrick Scott notched a Double Double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
CATFIGHT – This game pitted the 4 seeds – the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS – against the 5th seeded SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS. After an action-packed First Half the Tigers trailed the Cougars by a score of 51-46. Following the break Olivet Nazarene’s defense virtually shut down SXU while adding 45 more points of their own for a 91-77 triumph. Nic Reed led the way with 30 points and 9 rebounds followed by Tyler Crater’s 25 points and 6 boards.

NUMBER NINE TAKES A FALL – The HAMILTON COLLEGE CONTINENTALS welcomed the number 9 team in the nation – the WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY CARDINALS. The Continentals put the Cardinals on Upset Alert with a 41-32 Halftime lead, then closed the deal by a final score of 92-76. Andrew Groll led Hamilton College with a Double-Double of 20 points and 14 rebounds.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 or more points in Regulation included: The WILSON COLLEGE PHOENIX and their guests the SAINT ELIZABETH EAGLES had a shootout for the ages, with the Phoenix winning it 104-100 ### Meanwhile the HILBERT COLLEGE HAWKS eviscerated the PITT-GREENSBURG BOBCATS to the tune of 104-62 ### And the MEDAILLE COLLEGE MAVERICKS folded, spindled and mutilated the MOUNT ALOYSIUS MOUNTIES 112-50.
