RIVER STATES CONFERENCE
GRENADIERS ROLLING – The West’s 1 seed – the INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTHEAST GRENADIERS – took on the East’s 4th seeded UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE (OH) RED STORM.
At Halftime the score was knotted up at 47-47 but after the break the Grenadiers pulled away from the Red Storm and won the game by a final score of 93-79. Jamie Johnson tossed in 25 points to lead Indiana University Southeast.
THREE OVER TWO UPSET – In this game the East’s 3rd seeded OHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS did battle with the West’s 2 seed – the CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES.
The Trailblazers trailed the Eagles at the break by a count of 48-47 but in the 2nd Half Ohio Christian’s wealth of postseason experience told the tale as they came from behind for a Century Club-level 104-91 triumph. The Trailblazers were led by Marquis Jackson’s THIRTY-TWO points and 6 rebounds.
GOLDEN GOOD – The East’s 2 seed – the WEST VIRGINIA TECH GOLDEN BEARS – squared off against the West’s 3rd seeded ASBURY UNIVERSITY EAGLES. Again the cooler-named team prevailed over an Eagles squad as the Golden Bears overcame their 34-33 midpoint deficit to grab an 88-66 victory. Elisha Boone notched a Double Double of 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead West Virginia Tech in the win.
MOON OF THE WOLVES – The top seed in the East – the INDIANA UNIVERSITY EAST RED WOLVES – played the West’s 4th seeded BRESCIA UNIVERSITY BEARCATS for the right to advance. By Halftime the Red Wolves led the Bearcats 43-32 and used the 2nd Half to slowly add to that advantage, ultimately winning the game by a score of 98-78. Jordan Furlow put up 26 points for Indiana University East.
