Regarding your second story (the shooting of a coach in Waller County, Texas), that actually occurred at a baseball field not too far from my home. Although I am in far northern Harris County and at the southern edge of Montgomery County, Waller County is just about six miles to the West.
Thing is, I pass that field when going to my in-laws house. That field is near a former Catholic school that has been converted into a madrasa.
Oddly, when that got reported on the local ABC affiliate (KTRK), they did not mention that the coach was praying with the kids, but that he used his body as a shield when the shots rang out.
