HAS TO BE SAID: SEPTEMBER 18th

Here at Independent Voter site Balladeer’s Blog it’s time for another installment of “Has to be Said.”

PEOPLE REALLY NEED TO READ MEDIA OUTLETS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE. I’ve pointed out several times that since I’m an Independent Voter I read everything I can from both Democrat media outlets and Republican media outlets. (No, media outlets are not unbiased now, nor were they EVER. I vented about that HERE.)

I have bashed presidents and other politicians from both major parties in the U.S. I can provide links to my blog posts in which I have slammed Republicans AND Democrats over the years, and that is something that people who try trolling me cannot say for themselves.

And I’ve also mentioned that I go after whichever party is being worse at the time. If I was writing this blog post during the time of the execrable George W. Bush I’d be focusing on bashing him. I wouldn’t be dissuaded by people saying “Hey, how come you only bash one side?” Similarly, as authoritarian, destructive and intolerant as Democrats are right now and have been for a very long time they deserve to be called out.

Seeing the way a lot of Americans and many people overseas so blindly fall into a “smirking jackass attitude” whenever Democrat media outlets (which the clueless Republican Party has allowed to vastly outnumber their own media outlets) choose to distort the words of a political figure. To avoid using a Trump example, since many otherwise reasonable people become raving loons at the mention of his name, here’s an example from years before President Trump even ran for office.

*** One of America’s female Republicans (which one is not important to this example) was speaking at a Tea Party event and closed by exhorting her audience to “Party like it’s 1773.”

Democrat snob

Democrats all across the media and the internet had a field day ridiculing the woman for saying that. In their usual prickish, pompous manner American leftists assumed the woman had meant to say 1776, which was the year the Declaration of Independence was signed, but NOT the year of the Boston Tea Party. Democrat asses repeated their snobbish “Republicans are stupid” meme over and over again because of her reference, which they clearly misunderstood.

Actually, since the Boston Tea Party, the event the Tea Party takes its name from, happened in 1773 – NOT 1776 – the Republican woman had the right year. That simple fact was lost and/or ignored in the slew of jokes about how “historically illiterate” Republicans supposedly were for defending the woman. Talk shows, news shows, internet humor outlets all ran with the usual “Republicans are morons” sentiment for several days.

Let me emphasize this for overseas readers: the people who had the historical reference RIGHT became national laughingstocks and were being ridiculed as “stupid” by the people who were WRONG about the historical reference. And those wrong people included plenty from other countries.

Corrections were never run or aired by any of the offending outlets. The historical fact was lost in the rush to ridicule and all the general public remembered was that, supposedly, once again Republicans had revealed how “stupid” they are.

I even see this general attitude being lazily repeated in overseas media outlets. This is just one small example, but I wanted to offer it as Exhibit A why I can’t stand American leftists even though I used to be one years ago. Because they are pretentious asses who are nowhere near as “intellectual” as they think they are but feel that they are automatically “intellectual” simply by virtue of calling themselves Democrats. Actually BEING intelligent is irrelevant in their approach.

After all, as the above anecdote demonstrated, they assume “everybody knows Republicans are stupid and Democrats are smart.” Most of the anecdotes that have fed into this general assumption are as off-base as the one recounted above. You can use this example as the template for so many other instances when the media distorts the facts just to ridicule something a candidate said as stupid or “outlandish.”.

I’m sure that won’t change, I just wanted to post this reminder that people who only expose themselves to the media outlets of one political party aren’t getting the full story. Maybe they should bear that in mind instead of going the smirking jackass route and buying every negative picture the media paints.

Every single week I refrain from posting dozens of anti-Kamala Harris items (formerly Joe Biden items) because they’re inaccurate or are part of regular government procedures that scandalized partisans didn’t understand. Anti-Trump zealots, on the other hand, apparently have NO standards at all for believing whatever wild accusations get thrown Trump’s way. Or whatever misquotes get used against him.
