Problem, fellow indie, is that unless we mount a collective effort and position singularly good individuals to run for office, we stand less than a snowball’s chance in hell of changing a single thing. Repulsiivecans and Democranks both know this and chuckle with glee. So?
I agree, so step one is for people to stop automatically awarding their vote to one particular party’s candidates. Vote for the candidate, not the party. And the BIG moves will need to come during the Primary Elections. More and more people seem to be sitting up and paying attention to those races. I would also say LOCAL politics requires participation no matter how boring it can be. So many parents were shocked to discover the partisan bias and CRT hatred being taught in schools because people don’t like to pay attention to school board races.
In addition, I don’t donate money to a political party but to INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES. It’s like that old cliche “The price of liberty is eternal vigilance” and that does not just apply in military matters but in politics, too.
And I know, nobody likes having to be so focused and active in politics but unfortunately we have seen that if non-zealots abandon the political arena to “activists” they will NOT regard personal boundaries. They will push their politics until it intrudes on people’s everyday life as we have seen. Sadly, that’s a big lesson of the past several decades.
Being active in politics to ensure that elected officials represent their broader constituency instead of just the loudest voices may well become the new normal. It’s a pain but it can’t be avoided, it looks like. I compare it to the old argument about locking your doors – some people may say “It’s a damn shame that we HAVE to lock our doors” but it can’t be avoided. Similarly, you could say “It’s a damn shame that we HAVE to participate more in grubby politics” but it, too, cannot be avoided, apparently.
I’m in it, I’m on it. I fear the first news you hear from me will be if I win an elected office I will go to jail for dumping a maroon constituent just transferred-in from either coast on his/her/they/them/its ass for whining about why we backwater community people don’t fall all over ourselves to emulate the coasties’ living dynamic. It’s a free country, but big city exiles should remember why they leave their cities for rural America and not try to do the same old crap they did as contributors to big city woes – liberalism, CRT, male-bashing, entitlements, expecting the government to do citizens’ dirty work, real-estate (etcetera) bidding wars fueling inflation, and three-car BMW houses. When you leave the city, LEAVE it.
If they don’t send me to jail, and I successfully complete only one local term, I’m running for King of America next. Hell, maybe I’ll stand a better chance if they DO send me to jail. First things first. Dogcatcher? Sewer Commissioner? Cathouse Overview Committee?

Exactly! So many Democrats mindlessly went along with The Party on that and didn’t bother getting the actual facts about the case.
Any person who supports the Democratic Party and allows what’s happening to continue, is mentally ill, in my book. They should all be locked up for the safety of normal Americans.
