College of Marin MarinersNOR-CAL ROUND ONE – GAME ONE – The COLLEGE OF MARIN MARINERS welcomed their First Round opponents the CANADA COLLEGE COLTS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Colts took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd and 2-0 in the 3rd before the 4th Inning ended with Canada College leading the Mariners by a score of 3-2. Neither team scored again until the 7th, when the College of Marin belted in SIX runs and rode them the rest of the way for an 8-3 victory. Mariners Pitcher Cooper Casad picked up the win.    

Fullerton College Hornets logoSO-CAL ROUND ONE – GAME ONE – The FULLERTON COLLEGE HORNETS traveled to take on the MOUNT SAN JACINTO COLLEGE EAGLES. A 4-0 2nd Inning advantage for the Hornets became 4-1 to end the 4th. Fullerton College extended that to a 7-1 lead in the 5th Inning and 10-2 in the 7th on their way to a brutal FOURTEEN to TWO evisceration of the Eagles. Notching this opening round win for the Hornets was Pitcher Randall Ortiz, who improved to a very impressive 8-2 record for himself in the 2016 season.

Reedley College Tigers logoNOR-CAL ROUND ONE – GAME TWO – The REEDLEY COLLEGE TIGERS made the playoffs for the first time in FIFTY-THREE YEARS! Their First Round opponents were the FEATHER RIVER COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES, who grabbed a quick 1-0 lead in the 1st Inning. The Tigers took a 2-1 edge in the 3rd Inning and made that a 3-1 advantage to end the 5th. That marked the end of the scoring in this game with Reedley College advancing by that same 3-1 count. Winning Pitcher Evan Sagaribilla threw for 9 Iron Man Innings for the Tigers.

RCC-Tiger-VerticalSO-CAL ROUND ONE – GAME TWO – In this battle of the diamond the RIVERSIDE CITY COLLEGE TIGERS traveled to take on the SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE VAQUEROS. Neither team scored until the Vaqueros took a 1-0 lead to end the 4th Inning. That’s where the score stayed until the top of the 8th Inning, when the Tigers went up 3-1. Riverside City College was unable to add to their lead in the top of the 9th and Santa Barbara City College mustered just 1 more run of their own in their half of the Inning. The final tally in this game was Tigers 3  Vaqueros 2. Angel Delgado was on the mound for the Riverside City College victory.
