POSTSEASON COLLEGE BASEBALL CONTINUES

* NAIA *

SANTA CLARITA REGION: DAY TWO – The 2 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN OHIO RACERS – started the day against the 5th seeded CAL STATE- SAN MARCOS COUGARS by overcoming a 3-0 deficit in the 3rd Inning to tie the game at 3-3 in the 4th, then winning the game 4-3 in the TWELFTH Inning! Ryan Carter got the win.     ###      Up next the 4th seeded VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS converted a 6-2 lead in the 1st Inning into an 8-2 victory over the 2nd seeded UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS. Jordan Moak was the winning Pitcher.     ###      And the (2) UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN OHIO RACERS finished the day by eliminating the top seeded MASTER’S COLLEGE MUSTANGS by a score of 6-3. The Racers’ Ryan Burns took the W.  

SHAWNEE REGION: DAY TWO – Due to rain there was only one game played in this Region yesterday. That game was between the 2nd seeded LSU-SHREVEPORT PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots) and the 4 seeds – the BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS. The Pilots only gave up 1 run to the Chargers, and that came in the 8th Inning. LSU-Shreveport annihilated BCU by a score of FOURTEEN to ONE! Dustin Doucette was the winning Pitcher for the Pilots. 

BELLEVILLE REGION: DAY TWO – The (3) WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS got things going by eliminating the (4) MADONNA UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS in an 8-6 thriller. Ryan Yuengel threw for the win.     ###      After that the (2) BELLEVUE UNIVERSITY BRUINS upset the (1) TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS by a final score of 3-1. Stephan Meyer got the W.     ###      And the (5) MAYVILLE STATE COMETS stayed undefeated in Tourney play by toppling the (3) in an 8-0 rout! Pitcher Garrett Osterode grabbed the win. 

DAYTONA BEACH REGION: DAY TWO – The (3) BRYAN COLLEGE LIONS bounced the (4) SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE 4-2 as the Fire went 0-2 and a barbecue. L.J. Rowden was the victorious Pitcher.     ###      Next the (2) EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Aeronauts) tripled up on the (5) UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE RED STORM 9-3. Zac Grotz got the W.     ###      And (3) Bryan College claimed another scalp to close the day, eliminating the top seeded AUBURN UNIVERSITY AT MONTGOMERY WARHAWKS 6-2. Credit Francisco Colin with the win.  

GRAND RAPIDS REGION: DAY TWO – The (4) PERU STATE BOBCATS stayed alive with a 6-2 upset win over the (3) MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY COUGARS. Adam Quintana went all 9 Innings for the Bobcats.     ###      After that the (2) DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS toppled the (1) OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES by a score of 3-1 for Pitcher Brendan Bender.     ###      And the (5) GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS staved off elimination by defeating (4) Peru State in a 6-4 nailbiter. Jeff Heath pitched for the win.  

KINGSPORT REGION: DAY TWO – The (2) LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS trounced the top seeded TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS in a 10-1 upset from Pitcher Scott Sebald.     ###      And the (3) FREED- HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY LIONS snagged a pair of wins, eliminating the (5) JUDSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES 4-1 and then crushing the (4) LSU- ALEXANDRIA GENERALS by a count of 10-2. Jack Coleman and Jordan Newby threw for the two victories. 

LAWRENCEVILLE REGION: DAY TWO – The (2) WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS eliminated the (5) SPRING ARBOR UNIVERSITY COUGARS in a 13-10 orgy of offense, then closed out the day by beating the (4) SAINT CATHARINE COLLEGE PATRIOTS 6-2. Credit Hector Lujan and Andrew Vasquez with the wins.     ###      And the (3) SAINT THOMAS (FL) UNIVERSITY BOBCATS routed the top seeded GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES by a score of 10-2. Pitcher Tyeler Checkley threw for the victory.  

MONTGOMERY REGION: DAY TWO – It took 10 Innings but in the end the (2) NORTHWOOD (FL) UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS survived a 10-9 elimination game with the (5) UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS FIGHTING SAINTS. Andres Caraveo picked up the win.     ###      After that the top seeded FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies) won a thrilling 3-1 affair with the (3) CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS. Christian Torres got the W.     ###      And the (4) LYON COLLEGE SCOTS won an ELEVEN Inning game against (2) Northwood University. The score was 10-7 with Tyler Tognarine as the winning Pitcher.  

OKLAHOMA CITY REGION: ALL WEDNESDAY GAMES RAINED OUT. 

* USCAA WORLD SERIES *

DAY ONE – GAME ONE – The 9th seeded SAINT JOSEPH’S COLLEGE- BROOKLYN BEARS took the diamond against the 8 seeds – the PSU-BEAVER LIONS in what started out as a Pitcher’s Duel. Neither team scored through the first 5 Innings, but the Bears put up 2 runs in the 6th and followed those up with one more in the 7th for a 3-0 victory. The winning Pitcher for SJC in this game was Mitch Brigando.  

DAY ONE – GAME TWO – This game pitted the 7 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI AT CLERMONT COUGARS – against the 10th seeded PSU-SCHUYKILL LIONS. The Cougars proved that, as usual, too many teams from the Penn State system were let into the World Series. UC-Clermont seized a 4-0 lead by the 2nd Inning and never looked back on their way to a blistering THIRTEEN to NOTHING win. Brandon Boyd got the W. 

DAY ONE – GAME THREE – Up next the 3rd seeded TENNESSEE TEMPLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS faced the 6 seeds – the COLLEGE OF SAINT JOSEPH’S (sic) FIGHTING SAINTS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Crusaders went up 7-1 in the 2nd. Both teams put together a few more runs from there with Tennessee Temple University logging a 9-4 victory for Pitcher Hunter Giles. 

DAY ONE – GAME FOUR – The top seeds – the ILLINOIS TECH SCARLET HAWKS – at last got into action against the victors of Game One – the 9th seeded SAINT JOSEPH’S COLLEGE- BROOKLYN BEARS. A 2-0 1st Inning lead for the Scarlet Hawks eventually became a 4-3 edge for the Bears in the 4th Inning. Illinois Tech added 1 run each in the 6th and 8th Innings to win the game 5-4. Michael Malfeo pitched for the win. 

DAY ONE – GAME FIVE – Then came a battle between the 5th seeded NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS and the 4 seeds – the ROCHESTER COLLEGE WARRIORS. The Builders took a 2-0 1st Inning lead which lasted til the 5th, which ended with Newport News Apprentice School leading by a count of 4-1. That held up as the final score, too, in a win for Pitcher Taylor Gomer.  

DAY ONE – GAME SIX – The 2 seeds – the PSU-GREATER ALLEGHENY NITTANY LIONS – played the winners of Game Two, the 7th seeded UC-CLERMONT COUGARS. The Nittany Lions got off to a 3-0 lead in the 1st Inning which became a 3-2 game in the 2nd and a 4-3 edge for PSUGA in the 3rd. The Nittany Lions added 5 more runs in the 4th on their way to an 11-8 triumph. Aaron McGee got the win.  

* NJCAA *

GULF DISTRICT – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, FL was the site of this battle of the diamond. The NORTHWEST FLORIDA STATE RAIDERS took on the PALM BEACH STATE PANTHERS in a game that saw the Raiders get off to a 4-1 1st Inning lead. That became a 5-1 advantage in the 4th Inning but the Panthers cut it to a 5-4 edge by the 6th. In the frenzy of runs that followed Northwest Florida State wound up with an 8-7 win. Corderias Dorsey pitched for the win. * THE RAIDERS ADVANCE TO THE NJCAA1 WORLD SERIES *
