In the recent CBS News/ Quinnipiac University Poll Americans quite correctly voted Barack Obama the worst U.S. president of the post- World War Two era. How appropriate that, just in time for the July 4th holiday Little Barry Obama won this distinction since he is exactly the type of pompous, clueless, corrupt and self-satisfied ass that we declared our independence from back in 1776! It may be my fondness for mythology that makes me love to watch particular movies around particular holidays. I say that because many of the well- known myths were recited on ancient holidays when their subject matter was relevant to those holidays. The stories helped accentuate the meaning of the special events and that’s the way I use various movies. At Christmas I watch countless variations of A Christmas Carol, around Labor Day I watch Eight Men Out, at Halloween The Evil Dead and the original Nightmare On Elm Street, Thanksgiving Eve I do Oliver! and for Frontierado (which is just a month away now) I do Silverado.
Since the actual 4th of July is loaded with activity I always show 1776 on the night before. It’s a great way to get in the mood for Independence Day. An odd symbol that seems to show up everywhere outrageous atrocities are perpetrated. Weird.
Here is Balladeer’s Blog’s review of the hot new cable series Agents of I.S.L.A.M. from cult director Eddie Wozniak who also has a producer’s credit on this edgy and irreverent new show.
Agents of I.S.L.A.M. features a global network of loosely affiliated religious fanatics, though what particular faith they belong to is never specified on the program. Their organization’s acronym stands for Intolerant Savages Loathing All Modernity so your guess is as good as mine if they represent a real religion or if they are presented as a composite of multiple belief systems.
Last night’s debut episode presented the title villains involved in the genital mutilation of an entire village full of women. Even worse is the way they treat women like slaves and consider them nothing but chattel according to the dictates of their blood-soaked religious book – the title of which is never given for some reason. The barbaric bad guys even beheaded everyone who disagreed with them or refused to convert to their homophobic, misogynistic, xenophobic and otherwise intolerant faith. Continue reading

SHAGODIAQDANE – The Iroquois goddess of the summer. She was depicted as an old woman sitting cross-legged in the forest and she sang a song that only birds could hear and their own chirping and singing was considered to be their response to the goddess’ song.
