MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT ACTION – MAY 4th

RED RIVER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The top seeded LSU- SHREVEPORT PILOTS (riverboat pilots) eliminated the 5th seeded TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS by a score of 13-9 to advance to the title game   ###   In that title game the 3 seeds – the BACONE COLLEGE WARRIORS – defeated the Pilots in a 7-4 thriller. Along the way the Warriors also defeated Jarvis Christian College.   ***   CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BACONE COLLEGE WARRIORS, THE RRAC CHAMPS FOR 2014. 

CALIFORNIA PACIFIC CONFERENCE/ CASCADE CONFERENCE COMBINE – In the 2 spot the CONCORDIA (OR) CAVALIERS defeated the 3rd seeded CORBAN UNIVERSITY WARRIORS  4-2 in order to move on to the championship game   ###   Then the top seeded UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS went on to beat those Cavaliers 4-1 for the crown. Along the way the Thunderbirds also took out Menlo College and Corban University.   ***   CONGRATULATIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS, THE CPC/ CC CHAMPS FOR 2014.  

ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT INSTITUTIONS – The top seeded GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES went to 10 Innings with the 3rd seeded FISHER (MA) FALCONS before eliminating them 4-3. Later in the day the Grizzlies bounced the 2nd seeded LSU- ALEXANDRIA GENERALS in an exciting 5-2 game.   ###   And the Cinderella 6 seeds – the HOUSTON- VICTORIA JAGUARS – won a nailbiting 3-2 elimination game with the 3rd seeded CAL STATE SAN MARCOS COUGARS. 

MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE – The 2nd seeded CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS won a 10-7 thriller against the 7th seeded LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS   ###   The top seeded GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS obliterated the 8th seeded UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS  11-1   ###   The 4th seeded SHAWNEE STATE BEARS edged the 5th seeded CAMPBELLSVILLE TIGERS by a score of 3-2   ###   12-2 was the score as the 3rd seeded ST CATHARINE’S PATRIOTS clubbed the 6th seeded BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS   ###   In the loser’s bracket the (6) Rambling Rams beat the (7) Blue Raiders  8-5 and the (5) Tigers beat the (8) Patriots  15-11.  

MIDWEST COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE – The top seeded VITERBO UNIVERSITY V-HAWKS clobbered the 2nd seeded AIB EAGLES by a score of 8-2   ###   And the 5 seeds – the GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS – won a pair of elimination games: first a 4-0 shutout of the 3rd seeded ST AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES and then a 7-2 upset of the 4th seeded WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN. 

SOONER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The top seeded OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON moved on to the next day’s championship game with a 4-0 shutout of the 4th seeded WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS.   ###   And joining them in the title game will be the 2nd seeded OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS, who bounced the 3rd seeded NORTHWOOD (TX) KNIGHTS in a 10-0 drubbing. 

THE SUN CONFERENCE – The 4 seeds – the ST THOMAS (FL) BOBCATS – won a 5-4 Instant Classic with the 5th seeded WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS   ###   Meanwhile the 2nd seeded SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE shut out the top seeded EMBRY- RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES  2-0   ###   And those (1) Eagles then survived an 8-6 elimination game against the (4) Bobcats. 

FRONTIER CONFERENCE/ NORTHSTAR CONFERENCE COMBINE – The 5th seeded DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS upset the 3rd seeded VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS in an 8-2 elimination game   ###   The top seeded JAMESTOWN COLLEGE JIMMIES blanked the 2nd seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS  5-0   ###   And those (2) Comets then bounced the (5) Blue Hawks in an 8-1 buttkicking.

REGION 221 – CHAMPIONSHIP – The UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT AT AVERY POINT POINTERS won this best of three series against the COLLEGE OF RHODE ISLAND KNIGHTS. The Pointers lost the opening game in an 8-0 rout, then took Game Two in a 3-2 Instant Classic. The rubber game went to UCAP as well, with the Pointers managing a thrilling 4-2 victory. * CONGRATULATIONS TO THE POINTERS! *

REGION 203 – CHAMPIONSHIP – The MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY- NORTHEAST SAINTS were the victors of this best of three series against the GENESEE COLLEGE COUGARS. The Saints were able to take care of their business in a sweep, with Game One being a tight 8-7 game for the ages. The second game was a complete laugher with MUNE spanking the Cougars by an unbelievable ELEVEN to ONE! * CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SAINTS! *

REGION 215 – CHAMPIONSHIP – The championship in this Region was decided by one game rather than a best of three series like above. The two contenders for this Region’s title were the WESTCHESTER COLLEGE VIKINGS and the SUNY- ORANGE COUNTY COLTS. When the dust settled the Vikings had won a 5-2 thriller to join UCAP and MUNE in next week’s District Championship games. * CONGRATULATIONS TO THE VIKINGS! *
