COLLEGE BASEBALL CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT RESULTS FROM MAY 3rd

CROSSROADS LEAGUE – In a THIRTEEN INNING marathon the 4th seeded HUNTINGTON UNIVERSITY FORESTERS at last emerged with a 3-2 victory over the 5th seeded ST FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS   ###   The 7th seeded MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS had the upset of the day by bringing down the 2 seeds – the TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS – in a 9-8 Instant Classic   ###   The top seeded MT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY COUGARS nearly doubled- up on the 8th seeded GRACE COLLEGE LANCERS  11-6   ###   And the 6th seeded INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS got drubbed by the 3rd seeded SPRING ARBOR UNIVERSITY COUGARS in a 10-0 laugher.

MIDWEST COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE – The top seeded VITERBO UNIVERSITY V-HAWKS (how can you not love that name) had their hands full with the 4th seeded WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN but prevailed 2-0   ###   The 2nd seeded AIB COLLEGE OF BUSINESS EAGLES (who should change their name to the Magnates) had to hang on themselves to win a 2-1 epic of the diamond with the 3rd seeded ST AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES   ### And the (4) Statesmen notched a 1-1 record for the day by defeating the 5th seeded GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS  7-1.   

AMERICAN MIDWEST CONFERENCE – The 3rd seeded WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS toppled the 1 seeds – the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS in an 8-6 nailbiter   ###   The 6th seeded PARK UNIVERSITY PIRATES eliminated the 5th seeded BU- SPRINGFIELD BULLDOGS by devastating them 12-1   ###   The 4th seeded FREED- HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY LIONS survived two elimination games – the first one by eviscerating the 2nd seeded LYON COLLEGE SCOTS  12-1 and the second by doubling up on the (6) Pirates by a score of 8-4.  

ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT INSTITUTIONS – The 3rd seeded CAL STATE- SAN MARCOS COUGARS brought down the top seeded GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES in a 5-4 game for the ages   ###  Meanwhile in the 2 spot the LSU- ALEXANDRIA GENERALS edged the 4th seeded FISHER (MA) FALCONS  3-2   ###   And the 6th seeded UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON AT VICTORIA JAGUARS won a 10-4 smackdown of an elimination game against the 5th seeded LU- BELLEVILLE LYNX.    

CHICAGOLAND COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – In a 13 Inning marathon of their own the 4th seeded ST XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS defeated the 3 seeds – the TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS – by a score of 6-5   ###   The 2nd seeded JUDSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES annihilated the 5th seeded HOLY CROSS (IN) COLLEGE SAINTS  11-1   ###   And the top seeded ST FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS outplayed the 6th seeded OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS to the tune of 7-3. 

HEART OF AMERICA ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 2nd seeded EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS eliminated the 5th seeded BAKER (KS) WILDCATS by a score of 9-6   ###   The top seeded MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS won a 3-0 shutout against the 3rd seeded PERU STATE BOBCATS   ###   The 4th seeded CULVER- STOCKTON COLLEGE WILDCATS made it through two elimination games – 2-0 over the 6th seeded CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLES and 2-0 again over the (2) Crusaders. 

RED RIVER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 3rd seeded BACONE COLLEGE WARRIORS upset the top seeds – the LSU- SHREVEPORT PILOTS (riverboat pilots) – in a 4-3 Instant Classic   ###   Meanwhile the 2nd seeded JARVIS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS eliminated the 4th seeded WILEY COLLEGE WILDCATS in an offense- heavy 11-9 game   ###   And those (2) Bulldogs then went on to be upset 5-2 by the 5th seeded TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS.  

SOONER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 3 seeds – the NORTHWOOD (TX) KNIGHTS – eliminated the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS in an 11-1 embarrassment   ###   The top seeded OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON smacked down the 5th seeded USAO DROVERS  10-4   ###   The 8th seeded MIDAMERICA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EVANGELS got completely dismembered by the 4th seeded WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS to the tune of FOURTEEN to TWO   ###   And the 2nd seeded OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS bounced  the 6th seeded TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS in a 12-0 shutout. 

THE SUN CONFERENCE – The 5th seeded WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS won an 11-5 elimination game with the 6th seeded WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS   ###   Meanwhile the top seeds – the EMBRY- RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES – eliminated the 3rd seeded THOMAS UNIVERSITY NIGHTHAWKS by a score of 7-1   ###   And the 2nd seeded SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE clubbed the 4th seeded ST THOMAS (FL) BOBCATS  13-7.

CALIFORNIA PACIFIC/ CASCADE CONFERENCE COMBINE – In a pair of elimination games the 2nd seeded CONCORDIA (OR) CAVALIERS defeated the 4th seeded COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES  4-1 and the 5th seeded MENLO COLLEGE OAKS in a 7-6 nailbiter   ###   Meanwhile the top seeded BRITISH COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY THUNDERBIRDS survived a 4-3 epic against the 3rd seeded CORBAN UNIVERSITY WARRIORS.  

FRONTIER CONFERENCE / NORTHSTAR CONFERENCE COMBINE – The JAMESTOWN COLLEGE JIMMIES came in as the top seeds and stayed perfect on Day Two, bouncing the 4th seeded DAKOTA STATE TROJANS  8-3   ###   The 5th seeded DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS easily won a 14-2 elimination game with the 6th seeded PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS   ### And in the 2 spot the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS made prison brides out of the 3rd seeded VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS by a score of TWENTY to THREE! 

GOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP – The 4th seeded WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS went into this final day of the GSAC tourney needing to win two straight from the top seeded SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN COLLEGE HAWKS. The Warriors did just that, by scores of 17-11 and 13-5. Along the way Westmont College also defeated (2) The Master’s College and (3) VANGUARD UNIVERSITY.   ***  THE WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS ARE GSAC CHAMPIONS FOR 2014.  

GREAT PLAINS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP – The 3rd seeded MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS upset the 2nd seeded NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS 3-1 in an elimination game   ###   Then in the title clash the Warriors embarrassed the 5th seeded DAKOTA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS  10-1. Along the way Midland U also defeated (4) Morningside College, (6) Hastings College and (7) Mount Marty College.   ***   THE MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS ARE GPAC CHAMPIONS FOR 2014.    

KANSAS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP – The 3rd seeded FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS forced a second game yesterday by defeating the top seeded TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS who were undefeated so far in this double- elimination tourney. The Falcons won the first game by a tight score of 3-2. In the followup game the Blue Jays said “Just kidding” and crushed the Falcons 19-7. Along the way Tabor College also defeated (4) Bethany College after a bye in the First Round.   ***   THE TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS ARE KCAC CHAMPIONS FOR 2014. 

MIDLANDS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP – The 2nd seeded BELLEVUE UNIVERSITY BRUINS advanced to the title game by hammering the 3rd seeded YORK (NE) PANTHERS  10-4.   ###   Next the top seeded OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES took the title by defeating those (2) Bruins in an explosive 12-8 game. Along the way the Eagles also beat (5) College of the Ozarks and (3) York College.   ***   THE OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES ARE MCAC CHAMPIONS FOR 2014.  

SOUTHERN STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP – The top seeded defending national champions of NAIA baseball – the FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES – advanced to the championship game by eliminating the 5th seeded BELHAVEN COLLEGE BLAZERS in a 5-0 shutout.   ###   Then the 3rd seeded SOUTHERN POLYTECHNIC RUNNING HORNETS doubled up on those (1) Eagles for the crown 6-3. Along the way the Running Hornets had also defeated (6) Martin Methodist University and (2) Brewton- Parker College.   ***   THE SOUTHERN POLYTECHNIC RUNNING HORNETS ARE SSAC CHAMPIONS FOR 2014.

SO-CAL DIVISION – PART ONE – The 12th seeded PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS upset the 5th seeded CERRITOS COLLEGE FALCONS. The results were a 5-1 loss then two wins by scores of 3-1 and 3-2   ###   While that was going on the 13th seeded ALLAN HANCOCK COLLEGE BULLDOGS toppled the 4th seeded PALOMAR COLLEGE COMETS in a 10-2 loss and wins by 3-2 and 8-2.

SO-CAL DIVISION – PART TWO – The 2nd seeded OXNARD COLLEGE CONDORS (love that name) took two of three from the 15th seeded EAST LOS ANGELES COLLEGE HUSKIES. A 4-3 Condor win was followed by a 2-1 loss then a 2-0 shutout   ###   And the 7th seeded LOS ANGELES MISSION COLLEGE EAGLES dismissed the 10th seeded SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS by way of a 9-8 win, a 13-5 loss and another win by 7-4.

SO-CAL DIVISION PART THREE – The 6th seeded SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE VAQUEROS swept their series with the 11th seeded SAN BERNARDINO VALLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES by scores of 9-3 and 8-2   ###   And in another sweep the 9th seeded SOUTHWESTERN (CA) COLLEGE JAGUARS upset the 8 seeds – the RIO HONDO COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS. The scores were 12-3 and 3-0.

 SO-CAL DIVISION PART FOUR – In the 3 spot the SANTA ANA COLLEGE DONS swept the 14th seeded LONG BEACH CITY COLLEGE VIKINGS by results of 17-6 and 6-1   ###   And to bring the scores from the So-Cal Division to a close the top seeded ORANGE COAST COLLEGE PIRATES swept the 17th seeded EL CAMINO COLLEGE WARRIORS. The scores were 7-4 and 8-2. 

NOR-CAL DIVISION – PART ONE – The top seeded CHABOT COLLEGE GLADIATORS defeated the 16th seeded CANADA COLLEGE COLTS 2-0, then lost to them 3-2 before getting serious with a TWENTY to FOUR elimination game win   ###   While all that was going on the 8th seeded COLLEGE OF MARIN MARINERS swept the 9 seeds – the CONSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE HAWKS by scores of 11-2 and 3-2.

NOR-CAL DIVISION – PART TWO – The 11th seeded MISSION COLLEGE SAINTS managed the only upset series in the Second Round of the Nor-Cal playoffs. The Saints defeated the 6th seeded FEATHER RIVER COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES 19-5, then lost to them 5-2 before prevailing 9-1   ###   And the 3rd seeded SANTA ROSA COLLEGE BEAR CUBS took their series against the 14 seeds – the COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO COLLEGE BULLDOGS with a 4-0 loss, then wins by 6-4 and 4-2.

NOR-CAL DIVISION PART THREE – Coming in as the 2 seeds the SAN JOAQUIN DELTA COLLEGE MUSTANGS swept their series with the 15th seeded FRESNO CITY COLLEGE RAMS by scores of 6-3 and 6-2   ###   Meanwhile the 7th seeded CABRILLO COLLEGE SEAHAWKS beat the 10th seeded SACRAMENTO CITY COLLEGE PANTHERS 6-1, lost to them 6-5 and then went on to take the rubber game 4-2.

NOR-CAL DIVISION PART FOUR – The 5th seeded COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS swept their Second Round series against the 12th seeded DIABLO VALLEY COLLEGE VIKINGS. Both wins came by an identical score of 4-1   ###   And to finish off the Nor-Cal Division the 4th seeded SIERRA COLLEGE WOLVERINES also swept their Second Round opponents the 13th seeded MODESTO COLLEGE PIRATES by scores of 4-2 and 5-3.
