FOUR MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL CHAMPIONS CROWNED

* NAIA *

The NAIA’s top seeded FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES ended the Cinderella run of the 7th seeded LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS. It’s rare for Lewis-Clark State to be considered Cinderellas on the diamond but how else would you describe a 7 seed in the championship game? At any rate Faulkner lived up to all the hype enroute to its first ever national title in baseball. By the 2nd inning the Eagles’ sound and fury had given them a 6-2 lead over the Warriors. By the 4th it was an 8-2 lead, then a 10-2 lead after 7, all climaxing with an 11-4 final score. Congratulations to Faulkner, the 2013 baseball champions of the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics)!

* NCAA D2 *

The UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA SPARTANS kicked around the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS to take the title in the NCAA Division 2 World Series. Neither team scored in the 1st inning but Tampa put up 5 runs in the 2nd and never looked back, adding 1 more run in the 4th and 2 more in the 7th. The Mavericks scored 1 run each in the 4th and 9th innings for a final score of 8-2 in favor of the Spartans. Congratulations to the University of Tampa on its SIXTH national championship in baseball!

* NJCAA1 *

The championship game in Division One of the NJCAA pitted the CENTRAL ALABAMA COLLEGE TROJANS against the PALM BEACH STATE PANTHERS in an Instant Classic. After 3 innings the game was tied up at 3 runs apiece, with neither team scoring in the next 2 innings. In the 6th and 7th Central Alabama added 2 more runs in each inning, taking the championship 7-3. Congratulations to the Trojans for their first ever national title in baseball!

* NJCAA2 *

And in the NJCAA Division Two College World Series title game the MURRAY STATE COLLEGE AGGIES took on the defending champion LSU-EUNICE BENGALS. The Aggies were in their very first appearance in the World Series and accomplished the seemingly impossible by taking the championship in their College World Series debut. The Aggies triumphed in a 4-3 game for the ages, the tightest game in this final batch of four. Congratulations to Murray State College of Oklahoma!
