MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS CROWNED

Master's College Mustangs logoGOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The MASTER’S COLLEGE MUSTANGS lived up to their number 1 seeding, taking the GSAC tournament title with an 8-3 victory over the 3rd seeded SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN EAGLES. Along the way to the conference crown the Mustangs also defeated Concordia (CA) and Arizona Christian University.

Taylor Trojans logoCROSSROADS LEAGUE – This conference’s unique format pits the ultimate winner of Bracket One against the ultimate winner of Bracket Two. The (1) TAYLOR TROJANS (Bracket One champs) won an 11-10 scoring orgy against the (3) MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE COUGARS (Bracket Two champs). Enroute to the league title the Trojans bounced Marian University once and St Francis (IN) twice.

Northwestern (IA) Red Raiders logoGREAT PLAINS ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – In the first game of this final day of the GPAC tourney the 6th seeded MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS advanced to the title game by stunning the 2nd seeded DOANE TIGERS 5-3.   ###   Then, in the championship game the top seeds, the NORTHWESTERN (IA) RED RAIDERS, defeated the Warriors in a 9-8 epic of the diamond. The Red Raiders are the 2013 GPAC champions!

 Sterling Warriors logoKANSAS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – With one loss already against them the 1 seeds, the TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS, had to earn the right to advance to the title game. They did that by eliminating the 3rd seeded BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES in a 9-3 trouncing.   ###   In the championship game, however, the 2nd seeded STERLING WARRIORS took the crown by routing the Blue Jays by a score of 6-0. Congratulations to Sterling!

Grand View VikingsMIDWEST COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE – The weather caused the cancellation of Friday’s games so there was a huge amount of activity on this final day of the MCC tourney. The (4) ST AMBROSE FIGHTING BEES eliminated the under-achieving top seeds, the WILLIAM PENN STATESMEN, by a score of 4-2. Then the Fighting Bees were themselves eliminated by the (2) VITERBO V-HAWKS in an 8-2 butt-kicking.   ###   The (3) GRAND VIEW VIKINGS had to fight uphill, eliminating the (6) MT MERCY MUSTANGS 7-4 and then handing the V-Hawks their 1st loss by a score of 9-5 to force another game. The Vikings embarrassed the V-Hawks 13-3 in that final game to become the MCC champs!    

SLCUOONER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The championship game in the SAC went to TEN innings and was played between the top seeded OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS and the 2nd seeded LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY CHAPARRALS . The Chaparrals upset the Stars, winning the title in a 6-5 masterpiece of the diamond. Along the way LCU also defeated Oklahoma Baptist University and St Gregory’s. Now it’s on to the national tournament!  

Embry-Riddle EaglesTHE SUN CONFERENCE – The top seeded EMBRY RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES are the traditional baseball powers of the Sun Conference and yesterday dispatched the two Cinderella teams from this year’s tournament. First they eliminated the (5) SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE by a score of 10-6.   ###   Next ERAU handed the (6) UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA-BEAUFORT SAND SHARKS their 1st loss of the tourney in a 5-0 shutout. The Eagles followed that up with a nailbiting 2-1 victory over the Sand Sharks to win the 2013 Sun Conference tournament.
