WOMEN’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: BALLADEER’S BLOG

Reaction to last Sunday’s post about Women’s Flag Football was strong enough to keep it going for now.

bryant-and-stratton-college-bobcats logoINSTANT CLASSIC – In this game the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE (Wisconsin) BOBCATS did battle with the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS.

           The crowd in attendance got a real treat with a game that was much tighter than many others in this emerging intercollegiate sport. The two teams went score for score for a time until the Bobcats came out on top by a final score of Bryant & Stratton College 18  Greyhounds 12.

florida gateway college timberwolvesLIKE I WAS SAYING ABOVE … – At the other end of the spectrum came this very lopsided affair between the defending champions – the FLORIDA GATEWAY COLLEGE TIMBERWOLVES – and the PASCO-HERNANDEZ STATE BOBCATS. 

           Pasco-Hernandez State was more like the Timberwolves’ prey than their opponents in this gridiron matchup. Florida Gateway College dominated the Bobcats on both sides of the ball on their way to a FIFTY-ONE to NOTHING blowout win. Continue reading

WOMEN’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM BALLADEER’S BLOG

mascot chair and bottle picReaders let me know a few years back that they were bored with college baseball so I discontinued my coverage. Let’s give Women’s College Football a shot. Once again, it’s up to you readers if I continue covering this sport, which is Flag Football.

         Right now, Flag Football is an accredited sport only in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) and NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) as well as a few NCAA colleges. More will launch Flag Football beginning in 2025 and the Olympics are adding it in 2028.

hesston college larks“SHOW US YOUR LARK!” – This weekend the HESSTON COLLEGE LARKS – who were the runners-up in last year’s National Championship game – won a pair of games on the road. First up, the Larks delivered a 20-7 smackdown to the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE (WI) BOBCATS. 

        The second win came against the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS. Hesston College’s women won this game by an even bigger margin. The final tally in this Flag Football clash was 21-6. Continue reading

NJCAA DIVISION TWO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PLUS DIVISION ONE FINAL FOUR

NJCAA DIVISION TWO

national park college nighthawksNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Fighting it out for this division’s crown were the 5 seeds – the NATIONAL PARK COLLEGE NIGHTHAWKS – and the 2nd ranked SOUTH SUBURBAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS.

The Nighthawks were on top of South Suburban College 44-38 at Halftime. Following the break, the Bulldogs managed to chop off just one point from the National Park College advantage. The final score was Nighthawks 84  South Suburban College 79. Twenty-two points from Taylor Harrell led NPC to the championship. Continue reading

NJCAA COLLEGE BASKETBALL: D3 CHAMPIONS CROWNED PLUS MORE

NJCAA DIVISION THREE

north lake college blazersNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded NORTH LAKE COLLEGE BLAZERS vied with the 3 seeds – the HERKIMER COLLEGE GENERALS – for the NJCAA’s D3 title. 

This was a tale of two Halves, as the Blazers were clinging to a mere 30-29 edge over Herkimer College by the midpoint of the game. After the break, North Lake College dominated the Generals to win by a final score of 74-61. Bryson Smith tossed in 24 points to lead the Blazers to their 5th national championship. Continue reading

NCAA D3 COLLEGE BASKETBALL CHAMPS PLUS NJCAA ACTION

NCAA DIVISION THREE

trine thunderNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The TRINE UNIVERSITY THUNDER clashed with the HAMPDEN-SYDNEY COLLEGE TIGERS for the D3 title.

Both teams played suffocating defense in the 1st Half, with the Tigers clinging to a tight 25-23 edge at the midpoint. After the break the Thunder offense kicked into action, outscoring Hampden-Sydney College 46-36 for a 69-61 victory. Cortez Garland scored 22 points to lead Trine University.  Continue reading

NCAA D2 COLLEGE BASKETBALL CHAMPS CROWNED PLUS D3 PLAYOFFS

NCAA DIVISION TWO

Minnesota State Mavericks logoNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This clash for the crown pitted the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS against the NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY SHARKS.

Come Halftime the Sharks were clinging to a 40-38 edge over Minnesota State. From there the Mavericks managed a comeback, ultimately defeating Nova Southeastern by a final tally of 88-85. Dylan Peeters tossed in 19 points to lead MSU to victory.

NCCAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES AND NCAA DIVISION TWO RESULTS

NCCAA DIVISION ONE

cedarville u yellow jacketsNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeds – the CEDARVILLE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS – took on the 2nd seeded WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be Flying Ws) in this title tilt.

Come Halftime the Yellow Jackets were nursing a 35-31 edge. After the break Cedarville University left the Pioneers further and further behind on their way to an 88-72 triumph. Grant Whisman and Chris Rogers led the Yellow Jackets with 20 points each. 

NCCAA DIVISION TWO

crown college polars logoNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this Division were the top seeded CROWN COLLEGE POLAR BEARS and the 3 seeds – the NORTH CENTRAL UNIVERSITY RAMS. 

The Polar Bears were on top of their opponents 35-29 at the Half. From there the Rams mounted a furious rally which fell just short as Crown College held on to win the game 75-72. The Polar Bears were led by Tyrus Buckner, who came up just short of a Double Double with his THIRTY points and 9 rebounds. Continue reading

NAIA COLLEGE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, PLUS NCCAA PLAYOFF ACTION

freed hardeman university lionsNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – It was a case of Lion-on-Lion violence as the FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY LIONS did battle with the LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS (should be Hugheses) for the title.   

At Halftime Langston University was on top 40-31 but after the break FHU was primed for a comeback. The Lions outscored the figurative “Hugheses” 40-27 for a 71-67 triumph and their first ever hoops crown. Quan Lax led Freed-Hardeman in this total team effort with his 15 points.

NCCAA (NATIONAL CHRISTIAN COLLEGE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION) DIVISION ONE

sagu aic warriorsFIRST QUARTERFINAL – The 6 seeds – the SAGU-AMERICAN INDIAN COLLEGE WARRIORS – had a surprise in store for the 3rd seeded MISSION UNIVERSITY PATRIOTS.

The Warriors put Mission University on Upset Alert by the Half with their 41-31 advantage. From there SAGU-AIC maintained their intensity against the Patriots, moving on to the semifinals by a final score of 80-64. Harley Upton’s 24 points led the Warriors, while his teammate Keyshawn Celestino-Clyde logged a Double Double of 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Continue reading
