COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS CONTINUE

Saint xavier university cougars new logoCHICAGOLAND COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 3rd seeded SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS led the 6 seeds – the TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS – by a score of 49-34 at Halftime. After the break the Cougars poured it on for an 88-67 win led by Larry Motuzis with THIRTY-NINE points.    ###     And the top seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS took on the 8th seeded SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES. At the midpoint the Fighting Saints clung to a 38-32 advantage but got separation in the 2nd Half for an 83-62 victory. Landus Anderson led USF with 28 points.   Continue reading

COLLEGE BASKETBALL POST-SEASON BEGINS

Well, at least it has in the divisions covered by Balladeer’s Blog, as the NJCAA3 has its first District Champions, plus the Jersey Blues and the Cannoneers advanced.

eastfield-harvesters1DISTRICT 303: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This title clash pitted the storied EASTFIELD COLLEGE HARVESTERS against the NORTH LAKE COLLEGE LAKERS. The Harvesters were on fire and by Halftime they led the Lakers by a score of 46-33.

After the break Eastfield College had to fight to keep North Lake College at arm’s length but in the end the Harvesters took the crown with an 83-68 win. Tremondre Anderson’s 22 points led the victors.   Continue reading

COLLEGE BASKETBALL RESULTS

CENTURY CLUB (Teams scoring 100 points or more in regulation)

Bluefield State Big Blues logoPOINTS A-PLENTY – The BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES hosted the SALEM INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TIGERS yesterday in the most offense-oriented game of the day. By Halftime the Big Blues led the Tigers 75-56, which could be a final score in most games. In the end Bluefield State won by a score of 129-110 with FIFTY-SIX of those points coming from Mark Durgan. 

chaminadeALOHA MEANS ROUNDBALL – The CHAMINADE UNIVERSITY SILVERSWORDS took the court against the visiting BYU-HAWAII SEASIDERS and were far from gracious hosts. The Silverswords were on top of the Seasiders 56-39 at the break enroute to a 115-86 blowout victory. Kuany Kuany (no error) led Chaminade University in scoring by tossing in 24 of his team’s points.  Continue reading

Hawaii at Hilo VulcansHAWAII ONE-OH-ONE – The UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT HILO VULCANS trailed their guests – the CHAMINADE UNIVERSITY SILVERSWORDS – by a score of 45-36 at Halftime. After the break the Vulcans erupted for 65 points, winning this Instant Classic by a count of 101-99. Salim Gloyd led Hawaii- Hilo with a Double Double of 28 points and 14 rebounds.  

novasoutheasternFINS TO THE LEFT, FINS TO THE RIGHT – (For all you Jimmy Buffett fans) The NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY SHARKS took the court against the visiting BARRY UNIVERSITY BUCCANEERS yesterday. The Sharks were up on the Buccaneers 50-40 by the midpoint then retained the lead for a 105-91 victory. Chris Page tossed in FORTY-ONE points for Nova Southeastern University.  Continue reading

Spalding Golden EaglesNUMBER SEVEN TAKES A FALL – The SPALDING UNIVERSITY GOLDEN EAGLES hosted the 7th ranked IOWA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS yesterday. The Golden Eagles had built up a nice 40-28 lead by Halftime and then went on to win the game in a 78-56 stunner. Brandon Goeing led Spalding University with 26 points.

WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS SIGN RECRUITING CLASS

west florida argonautsThe debut season of intercollegiate football for the University of West Florida Argonauts draws ever nearer! They just signed their second recruiting class. 

PENSACOLA, FL – University of West Florida football coach Pete Shinnick announced a class of 16 high school standouts on Wednesday, marking the second full class of recruits since the program was established.

Shinnick’s second class includes five offensive players, 10 on defense and one dynamic kicker/punter. Additionally, the staff announced eight mid-year transfer student-athletes who enrolled at UWF in January. Continue reading
