BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE HOCKEY RANKINGS: JANUARY 2ND, 2013

Norwich LogoWith 2013 just getting underway Balladeer’s Blog unveils its first college hockey rankings of the season for D3 hockey and NJCAA hockey. In my usual oddball way I do a Top 11 list for D3 and a Top 6 list for the NJCAA because of their lower number of hockey teams.

7 FOR THE 7TH: COLLEGE HOCKEY’S TOP 7 TEAMS

 Well, since it’s the 7th of the month I’ll take  a quick look at the Top 7 teams in NCAA Division 3 hockey. (The NAIA has no hockey league, so their participating colleges and universities play in the ACHA. I’ll be adding ACHA coverage soon).

NORWICH CADETS WIN NCAA DIVISION 3 WOMEN’S HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP

The Norwich Cadets hockey team won the D3 women’s championship by defeating the RIT Tigers by a score of 5-2. In 2010 the Cadets made it all the way to the title game only to lose to the Amherst Lord Jeffs (yes, even their ladies teams go by the Lord Jeffs) but this year Norwich closed the deal.
