NCAA DIVISION THREE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF MATCHUPS

Here is a look at Saturday’s opening round matchups in this year’s D3 college football playoffs. The 1 seeds in the 4 Regions are the defending champion UW-Whitewater Warhawks, their archrivals the Mt Union Purple Raiders, the Mary Hardin- Baylor Crusaders and the Wesley Wolverines.

NCAA DIVISION TWO COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF MATCHUPS

As regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog will remember, 24 teams make the playoff field in D2. There are 4 Super Regions and the number 1 and 2 teams from each Super Region get a bye in the 1st Round. First I’ll look at the eight 1 and 2 seeds, then will lay out this weekend’s matchups.

THE GOLDEN BAT (1966) – Ogon Batto is the name of this film in its native Japan. The movie was based on the title character, Japan’s very first comic book superhero who debuted in 1930. That 1930 date puts him years before Superman and Batman in the west!  

At any rate for the 1966 movie Japan’s perennial action star Sonny Chiba played the leader of a group of science-oriented commandos in what looked like aluminum foil suits. Chiba and his gang have fancy aircraft like England’s Thunderbirds and their debut mission finds them trying to save the Earth from collision with a rogue planet called Icarus. Continue reading →

Bob Woodward, the Washington Post reporter who became a household name for the work he and his partner Carl Bernstein did during the Watergate scandals that rocked the Nixon administration, continued speaking out on the implications of the Obama administration’s IRS scandal.

At one point Woodward even stated that the way he and Carl would have approached the investigation would have been to set up shop in the Cleveland regional IRS office where so many indications of direct White House involvement in the IRS targeting scandal have surfaced. Continue reading →
