Here at Balladeer’s Blog I always make it clear that I don’t lump myself in with the groups called Liberals or Conservatives or Libertarians. American Liberals are the most touchy of the bunch and took offense at my latest characterization of them. One challenged me to describe American Liberals in just one sentence, so here goes: Continue reading

AMERICAN LIBERALS IN ONE SENTENCE

Q&A: WHY ARE AMERICAN LIBERALS SO REPULSIVE?
I often get emails and comments that say things like: “Given the type of things you write about you’re clearly not a Conservative so why do you bash Liberals so much?” Or even: “What makes American Liberals such unbearable jackasses?”
Let me provide one small example. Not so long ago, one of America’s female Conservatives (which one is not important to this example) was speaking at a Tea Party event and closed by exhorting her audience to “Party like it’s 1773.”
American Liberals all across the media and the internet had a field day ridiculing the woman for saying that. In their usual prickish, pompous manner American Liberals assumed the woman had meant to say 1776, which was the year the Declaration of Independence was signed. Liberal asses repeated their snobbish “Conservatives are stupid” meme over and over again because of this incident.
Actually since the Boston Tea Party, the event the Tea Party takes its name from, happened in 1773 – NOT 1776 – the Conservative Woman had the right year. That simple fact was lost and/or ignored in the slew of jokes about how “historically illiterate” Conservatives supposedly are for defending the woman. Talk shows, news shows, internet humor outlets all ran with the usual “Conservatives are morons” sentiment for several days.
Let me emphasize this for my overseas readers: the people who had the historical reference RIGHT became national laughingstocks and were being ridiculed as “stupid” by the people who were WRONG about the historical reference. Corrections were never run or aired by any of the offending outlets. The historical fact was lost in the rush to ridicule and all the general public remembered was that, supposedly, once again Conservatives had revealed how “stupid” they are. Continue reading

WHO’S POLITICALLY UNREALISTIC?
Welcome back to Balladeer’s Blog, the only site on the web that truly criticizes both Liberals and Conservatives equally. People sometimes accuse me of being politically unrealistic with my positions. That’s nonsense. Let me point out just a pair of items I’ve supported for well over a decade but which people told me I was being “unrealistic” about.
1. I supported gay marriage since way back when. People scoffed at me and said I was unrealistic about that and support for it would never emerge from the population at large. Take a look at the present circumstances in this country and try telling me I was “unrealistic.”
2. I supported the legalization of marijuana since way back when. People scoffed at me and said I was unrealistic about that and support for it would never emerge from the population at large. Multiple states have legalized it and more are considering it. Try telling me now that I was “unrealistic.”
So, today when people say I’m unrealistic about my belief that EVENTUALLY enough support will emerge regarding the need to stand up to Islam’s misogyny, homophobia, censorship and all its other forms of intolerance I’m reasonably confident about the ultimate results. And people who agree with me should not be discouraged by the usual spineless conformists who sit on the sidelines and claim we’re being “unrealistic” or that criticism of Islam should be criminalized as “hate speech.” Continue reading

THE DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN PARTIES ARE THE BALL AND CHAIN THAT BIND US
Just a reminder that I will not take seriously any comments, emails or other communications from anyone who tries to sell me on the notion that the members of one political party are “the good guys” and the members of the other political party are “the bad guys.”
The Democratic and Republican Parties are two rival gangs of white-collar criminals who have hijacked the nation’s electoral system. Embracing either one of them is like championing one form of cancer over another.
These two “Royal Houses” have formed a separate class for themselves and laugh at the voters for meekly going along with the system the way the gangsters in Goodfellas laughed at law-abiding citizens as being “already dead.” Continue reading

LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES AND BALLADEER’S BLOG
Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog are familiar with my contempt for those walking caricatures called American Liberals and American Conservatives. My overseas readers in particular often leave comments and send emails telling me how refreshing it is to read a fresh perspective on American politics – a perspective not guided by the simple-minded belief that members of one political faction are “the good guys” and the members of the other political faction are “the bad guys”.
My blog contains plenty of items that piss off both Liberals and Conservatives. Once again thank you to those of you who have stuck with me over these past 3 years and 9 months. The fact that you’re still here means you’re secure enough in your beliefs that you don’t leave in a huff just because you encounter something that offends you.
Which brings me to Continue reading
