BEACH VOLLEYBALL: USC WOMEN WIN HISTORIC CHAMPIONSHIP

USC has been a power in Beach Volleyball going back to when it was still called Sand Volleyball.

Beach Volleyball is now the 90th NCAA sport with an official National Championship. This year was the first ever title tournament under the NCAA and the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TROJANS have won it.

COLLEGE BEACH VOLLEYBALL: FIRST-EVER NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR

college beach volleyballThe NCAA has changed the name of Wo-men’s Sand Volley-ball to Wo-men’s Beach Volley-ball and has named it the 90th colleg-iate sport whose Champ-ion-ship will come under the NCAA aegis.

May 6th to 8th will see the organization’s first ever National Tournament for Beach Volleyball, held at Gulf Shores, AL. An eight-team field will compete for the title in a Double Elimination format.

RIVER STATES CONFERENCE IS THE KIAC’s NEW NAME

River States Conference logo 2The NAIA’s Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference at last finalized their new conference name and logo. The KIAC has long included colleges and universities from Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia as well as Kentucky, so in a way this move was long overdue. However, it is a nice way of celebrating the league’s 100th anniversary this year.

The River States Conference will be the KIAC’s official new name beginning in July. The 2016-2017 sports season will see the debut of the new moniker.
