I agree with all of that except for the part about not showing malice. (I agree about not showing hatred.) In my opinion one of the reasons that uncommitted observers of political arguments default to siding with leftists when the chips are down comes from the way they see that the people arguing with leftists are basically wimpy. Meaning they have nothing to lose by siding with leftists (even if they don’t agree with them) because the leftists clearly play to win while wimpy, mushy, ineffective people who oppose leftists aren’t to be feared in any way.
