NCAA COLLEGE WORLD SERIES CONTINUE IN DIV TWO & THREE

NCAA DIVISION TWO

uc-sandiegotritonsDAY TWO, GAME ONE: The 6 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT SAN DIEGO TRITONS – took on the 3rd seeded CATAWBA COLLEGE INDIANS. Neither team scored during a Pitcher’s Duel that lasted the first 4 Innings.

The 5th Inning saw the Tritons drive in 5 Runs, which also wound up being the last of the scoring for either team. When all was said and done UC-San Diego won the game 5-0 behind Pitcher Preston Mott.

Tampa SpartansDAY TWO, GAME TWO: In the 2 spot the UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA SPARTANS did battle with the 7 seeds – the MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY LAKERS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Lakers went up 2-0 in the 2nd.

For the next 5 Innings neither team got up on the scoreboard. In the 8th the Spartans logged 4 Runs and rode them to a 4-2 triumph. Jacinto Arredondo was the winning Pitcher.  

NCAA DIVISION THREE

HOPKINS-W-BLUE-JAY-HEAD-400DAY THREE, GAME ONE: The JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS clashed with the BABSON COLLEGE BEAVERS. Neither team scored until the Blue Jays grabbed a 3-0 advantage in the 3rd Inning.

By the 5th Inning Johns Hopkins University was out in front 5-2 before the Beavers trimmed that to a 5-4 edge in the 7th. Each team added 1 more Run in the 9th Inning as the Blue Jays got a 6-5 victory for Pitcher Dean McCracken.

Chapman University PanthersDAY THREE, GAME TWO: Closing out Day Three was this elimination game between the CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS and the WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS. A 1-0 1st Inning edge for the Panthers became a 3-1 lead for the Presidents in the 2nd.

By the 4th Inning things were knotted up at 4-4, following which Chapman University shut out Washington & Jefferson College the rest of the way while driving in 2 more Runs each in the 6th and 9th. The Panthers won it 8-4 behind Pitcher Cody Turner.
