CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The 3 seeds – the PENN STATE AT DUBOIS LIONS – the defending National Champions of USCAA baseball, played the 7th seeded BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT ALBANY BOBCATS. The Bobcats did the difficult work for the Lions, having eliminated the top seeded Newport News Apprentice School earlier in the day.
A 2-0 1st Inning lead for PSU-Dubois became a 3-2 Bryant & Stratton-Albany edge in the 2nd. The Lions went back on top 4-3 in the 3rd Inning and extended that to an 8-4 advantage in the 5th. The final Runs came in the 7th and 8th Innings, in which Dubois outscored the Bobcats 4-3 to win the game 12-7. NCAA DIVISION TWO
CENTRAL REGION: DAY ONE – The (5) UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS utterly annihilated the (4) MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS to the tune of THIRTEEN to TWO! ### The (1) AUGUSTANA (SD) VIKINGS defeated the (8) OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON by a Polo Score of 12-10. ###
Meanwhile the (2) UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES routed the (7) MISSOURI SOUTHERN LIONS 8-1 ### And the (6) CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS (sic) upset the (3) ST CLOUD STATE HUSKIES 4-3.
MIDWEST REGION: DAY ONE – The (2) UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT SPRINGFIELD PRAIRIE STARS edged the (7) DRURY UNIVERSITY PANTHERS in a 5-4 thriller. ### The (3) WAYNE STATE (MI) WARRIORS (Tartar Warriors) won an 8-6 game against the (6) QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS. ###
Meanwhile the (8) TIFFIN UNIVERSITY DRAGONS toppled the (1) ASHLAND UNIVERSITY EAGLES by a football score of 17-10. ### And the (5) BELLARMINE UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS upset the (4) NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY TIMBERWOLVES 7-6.
SOUTHEAST REGION: DAY ONE – The 5 seeds – the LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY RAILSPLITTERS managed to upset the 4th seeded MOUNT OLIVE UNIVERSITY WARRIORS by a final score of 3-1. ###
And elsewhere, the 3rd seeded CATAWBA COLLEGE INDIANS hammered the 6 seeds – the YOUNG HARRIS COLLEGE MOUNTAIN LIONS – to the tune of 9-2.
SOUTH CENTRAL REGION: DAY ONE – The 6th seeded ROGERS STATE HILLCATS toppled the 3 seeds – the LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY CHAPARRALS – by a final tally of 9-5. ###
Meanwhile the 4 seeds – the COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES OREDIGGERS won a 5-4 game for the ages against the 5th seeded WEST TEXAS A&M BUFFALOES.
WEST REGION: DAY ONE – The 3 seeds – the POINT LOMA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY SEA LIONS – utterly demolished the 6th seeded MONTANA STATE AT BILLINGS YELLOW JACKETS by a score of 10-2. ###
And the 5th seeded CAL POLY AT POMONA MUSTANGS defeated the 4 seeds – the CALIFORNIA STATE AT MONTEREY BAY OTTERS in an 11-6 affair.
EAST REGION: DAY ONE – The (8) FRANKLIN PIERCE UNIVERSITY RAVENS served up the Upset of the Day as they toppled the (1) ADELPHI UNIVERSITY PANTHERS in a 4-3 Instant Classic. ### The (5) NEW YORK TECH BEARS meanwhile upset the (4) WILMINGTON (DE) WILDCATS 10-7 in TEN INNINGS. ###
The (2) SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNIVERSITY PENMEN topped the (7) ASSUMPTION COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS 4-3 ### And the (3) LIU-POST PIONEERS smacked down the (6) FELICIAN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN FALCONS by a score of 7-2.
SOUTH REGION: DAY ONE – The (4) UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS downed the (5) NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY SHARKS 5-4. ### The (1) UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA SPARTANS totaled the (8) SPRING HILL COLLEGE BADGERS by a count of EIGHTEEN to NINE! ###
Meanwhile the (2) DELTA STATE STATESMEN dispatched the (7) EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES 5-1. ### And the (6) VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS upset the (3) ECKERD COLLEGE TRITONS 6-1.
ATLANTIC REGION: DAY ONE – The 5th seeded MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY LAKERS took on the 4 seeds – the BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY HUSKIES. This game took an amazing EIGHTEEN INNINGS to complete with the Lakers winning it 9-8.
### And the 6 seeds – the CHARLESTON (WV) GOLDEN EAGLES – stunned the 3rd seeded GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS by a score of TWELVE to TWO!
