ACHA DIVISION THREE

Oakland University Golden Grizzlies SQUAREDAY THREE, GAME ONE – The OAKLAND (MI) UNIVERSITY GOLDEN GRIZZLIES skated against the UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA SPARTANS. In the 1st Period the Spartans got off to a 1-0 lead only to see the Golden Grizzlies go on top 3-1. The 2nd Period brought 2 University of Tampa Goals interrupted by another Goal for Oakland U. New score: 4-3, Golden Grizzlies. In the 3rd Period Oakland University dominated for a 7-4 victory. Austin McArdle was the winning Goalie with 36 stops on 40 Shots on Goal.

Fairfield StagsDAY THREE, GAME TWO – In this game the FAIRFIELD UNIVERSITY STAGS clashed with the KANSAS UNIVERSITY JAYHAWKS. Neither team scored in the opening Period, and the 2nd Period ended with the Jayhawks up on Fairfield 2-0. Three Goals from the Stags in the 3rd Period gave them a 3-2 comeback win. Fairfield University Goalie Nick Lanni stopped 42 of 44 Shots on Goal.

Farmingdale State RamsDAY THREE, GAME THREE – Up next the FARMINGDALE STATE RAMS took on the AIR FORCE ACADEMY FALCONS. The Rams held a 1-0 lead to end the 1st Period but the Falcons tied things up at 1-1 in the 2nd. The Air Force Academy went on top 2-1 in the 3rd Period before Farmingdale State whacked in 3 Goals for a 4-2 triumph. The winning Goalie was Stephen Montgomery of the Rams with 35 stops on 37 Shots on Goal.

Grand Valley State logoDAY THREE, GAME FOUR – This game pitted the GRAND VALLEY STATE LAKERS against the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA GOLDEN KNIGHTS. The Lakers grabbed a 2-1 advantage over the Golden Knights in the 1st Period, then finished the 2nd up 5-2. Neither team could manage a Goal in the 3rd Period so 5-2 was also the winning tally for Grand Valley State. Lakers Goalie Andrew Rozenbaum stopped 22 of 24 Shots on Goal.  

Wisconsin Milwaukee PanthersDAY THREE, GAME FIVE – The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT MILWAUKEE PANTHERS found themselves facing the RAMAPO COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS. In the 1st Period the Panthers went on top 1-0 before the Roadrunners knotted it up at 1-1. The 2nd Period repeated the pattern to end in a 2-2 tie. In the 3rd Ramapo College led 3-2 only to have UW-Milwaukee come back to win it 5-3. Goalie Michael Moe of the Panthers stopped 36 of 39 Shots on Goal.

Sault College CougarsDAY THREE, GAME SIX – Canada’s SAULT COLLEGE COUGARS played the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA BULLS in this game. The Cougars took charge early and led the Bulls 3-0 in the opening Period. In the 2nd USF made it a 3-1 game but Sault College led 5-1 to end the Period. In the 3rd Period the Cougars added another Goal for a 6-1 blowout victory. Drew Gregory of Sault College stopped 31 of 32 Shots on Goal for the win.

Michigan WolverinesDAY THREE, GAME SEVEN – The UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN WOLVERINES took the ice against the FLORIDA GULF COAST UNIVERSITY EAGLES (who also have a D2 team). Wolverines Goalie Ben Heilman notched a Shutout in this game. The 1st Period saw Michigan take a 1-0 lead, followed by a 3-0 advantage in the 2nd. In the 3rd Period the Wolverines completed the spanking of the Eagles 6-0. Ben Heilman stopped 26 of 26 Shots on Goal.

Fordham RamsDAY THREE, GAME EIGHT – The FORDHAM UNIVERSITY RAMS were looking for an Upset over the UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA CORNHUSKERS. The Rams led the Cornhuskers 2-1 to end the 1st Period and 4-3 to end the 2nd. In the 3rd Nebraska briefly tied things up at 4-4 before Fordham pressed down on the accelerator for an 8-4 victory. Rams Goalie Joe Sponenburg stopped 23 of 27 Shots on Goal.
